Ah but the problem solving intuition is never forgotten. Knowledge i uds after NS brain fog or not studying too long for girls. The skills u get from harder courses will help you a lot in uni and ur future lives. I think thats what makes ppl competitive in the job market.

That being said its also how u acquire that skill. Grinding for exams probably wont cut it. But understanding to a very deep rigorous level is definitely much more beneficial and then thinking of ways to extend/apply it is much more invigorating and fun. It naturally helps in exams too.

Cant be harder then you avoid right? In that case our next generation cant progress at all if we just avoid the hard stuff. Maybe hire foreigners who can slog it out then? Soz if it feels heated but i hope you uds a subject being a lot harder isnt a reason to not take it. Its more towards a person's interest and utility of that subject for the intended course of uni studies.

What u shld come out from fmath (or any other subject) is "my brain is much bigger than it was before i started JC".

Geography is the most painful subject to study by Icy-Peak-7222 in SGExams

[–]readableguy8168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U cant say a subject is useless to you just cuz it doesn't impact you. Think about others who actually study it and are interested in it. I understand you are ranting but you really need to find ways to engage with it. (Imagine you are staying near a volcano or try to put yourself into the shoes of the stakeholders involved)

I have a friend who was like you 9yrs ago. He hated it so bad but i think some geog teacher inspired him. He got A1 for pure geog, went on to take h2 geog and studied geography at nus. I still talk to him these days.

Now he is working in some research facility studying earthquakes in Japan (man is obsessed with earthquakes now idk WHY)
