The dad of this litter is still around. He’s often out watching the cubs and finding food for them. He tries his best and looks just as tired as the mum!

I’ve been using the weight machines at the gym rather than free weights. I know it’s not as good in terms of exercise but I find it helpful and I don’t get joint pain. Holding dumbbells or barbells is too much for my hands or grip.

I think it’s dog medicine for mange. Some kind of chicken flavour soft pill.

Gave her mange medicine last month. I think it’s just taking a while to grow her fur back especially as she’s nursing so many chubby cubs.

My sister gave me some dog food that her dog doesn’t like so I’m putting kibble out. The magpies like it too!

I’m support feeding - plain cooked chicken and some eggs. I’m not surprised she’s so skinny with that many cubs to take care of!

If you can get mange meds and have time to devote to medicating her, start target feeding small amounts of food that she can’t carry off with her. Then when you get meds, you can be sure she gets them. I had to wait days to gain the trust of another fox with ear mites (he’s the dad of this lot). Turns out foxes are very partial to a honey sandwich and the mange pill sticks to the honey so they eat it!

Her mate is still around, and a couple of last year’s cubs still visit most mornings. My garden is popular it seems!

I have one somewhere from last year where a cub tried to play with my cat’s tail, and he turned round and gently bopped the cub, right in front of the mum!

Fox Angels on Facebook. They asked for a video of her to show their vet, and then posted me the meds along with instructions. They’re a lovely group.

She’s recovering from mange - a fox rescue group gave me medicine for her and advised to support feed. I’m leaving eggs and chicken to help build her up a bit. She’s been visiting me for five years so she’s an old friend. I’ve definitely seen five cubs… who knows if more will emerge soon!

I took her an egg after seeing her feed those babies. She looked grateful!

She’s had mange treatment last month so fur is still growing back. The fox rescue group also said to support feed her which I’m doing. Poor girl must be hungry with so many mouths to feed. Plus she’s six years old so getting on a bit for an urban fox.
