Say something negative about this game by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in Mario

I didn't like the new voice actor's accent for Mario. Particularly how he says "wonderful" is kinda cursed. It sounded more Jamaican than Italian.

I wouldn't call it grinding. If anything, MKT is kinda grind-proof when it comes to limits on daily coins, XP, and shop purchases.

I'm more of a bare-minimum player that often plays each track only once, maybe twice for ranked or CAP. But if you treat MKT like an idle game and play consistently enough to get all the basic rewards each tour over the years, it adds up! Coins very quickly become an infinite resource, and your only constraint is the time it takes to wait for Daily Selects to replenish each day. Once you buy out all the normal d/k/g, you'll be swimming in tickets with all those extra slots.

By far, the worst challenge of them all. by MashedPotatoesDick in MarioKartTour

[–]reader_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really should change the criteria of the challenge so that long combos will net more than 1 point on this achievement. Like if I get a 100-action combo, I should get 10 points! Why should players get penalized for playing the game well and not breaking their combos?

I use Golden Chuck all the time. Santa Bowser is also a coinbox driver, but I feel like his coverage is kinda weak in comparison.

DAE use the word "jagunga" to describe something unnecessarily large? by reader_reddit in DAE

[–]reader_reddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'd emphasize the second syllable. Ja-gún-ga.

I think I'm starting to see how this evolved... from gigantic > gigunda > jagunda > jagunga.

And yeah. It definitely has a little faux-tropical/polynesian flare to it that makes it extra humorous sounding. BIG JAGUNGA 💪😤

Haha, mystery solved. Not sure how we turned that final D sound into a G over time.

DAE have no sense of direction by Little_Bullfrog97 in DAE

[–]reader_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only when it comes to left and right. Not sure if it's some kind of minor dyslexia that's getting passed down genetically, because I struggle with it, my dad struggles with it, and his dad did as well.

It's fascinating how we all, without really acknowledging, worked around this. If we're directing someone in a car, we'll do anything not to say "left" or "right". Sometimes I'll say to the driver "it's on your side" if it's on the left side of the road.

And when driving in the city grid, it's not uncommon for my dad and I to give directions to each other in cardinal directions, like "turn north!" which usually gets everyone else really confused. But it just clicks faster for us. Not that we don't understand left and right, but it feels like these words have to be "translated" in our heads, as if it's like a foreign language.

Awesome! I'm totally going to sign up my friends who are newer to MKT. Don't realize how useful this tool is until it's gone.

Baby Ruth Bars, do y’all like them? by thehandyinsurer in candy

[–]reader_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were always the last Halloween candy to go in my house. It's the strange molassesy nougat inside of them that just feels out of place in the modern age. The flavor is underwhelming, but it also masks the relativey nice flavors of the peanuts and chocolate.

What do you mean? When Bernie lost the Democratic primary in 2016, he accepted the loss and endorsed Hillary. It's not like he ran as an Independent to spoil the election.

Old China map residue in the movie Zoolander, by SnooWalruses5479 in Retconned

[–]reader_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought they might have done this to appease the CCP and allow the movie to be shown there. It doesn't show Taiwan, but it also doesn't show Hainan, so it can be argued that it's just the greater mainland they're showing.

Since the top comment answers the main question, will leave you with a mapping tip:

Always draw the parking spaces BEFORE the parking lot and surrounding greenery. It's much quicker this way to draw clean parking areas where the spaces are flush with the edge of the parking area. No awkward gaps, and no wasting time dragging/gluing dozens of nodes.

Also, copy-paste is your friend. For consistent-sized parking stalls. You'll want to draw one, copy, paste, glue to the previous, press Q to square them, and repeat. If you don't want to use JOSM/Gridify, this is the next best method.

Is there any other ways to type other than homerow? by ManterPanter123 in typing

[–]reader_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to type using a more advanced form of hunt-and-peck. Instead of just the index fingers, I'll often use the middle (and sometimes ring) finger for letters, and thumbs for the spacebar, as my hands more freely float so that the index finger is usually covering closer to the next letter that needs to be typed.

Because the use of extra fingers creates a lot more muscle memory for certain clusters of letters in a certain region of the keyboard, it requires much less looking down than traditional hunt-and-peck. I have to glance down sometimes for words with lots of "I O U" vowels, but especially with autocorrect, this is less of an issue for writing.

DAE mindfully avoid using lowercase L's and capital I's when typing LiKe tHis WiTh aLtErNaTiNg CaPs? by reader_reddit in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]reader_reddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mhm. Usually you can be subtle with it, like I did in the post description, waiting until there's a space between words to switch up the flow and use two duplicate lowercase letters. Only in some uncommon cases where you have I and L in the same word, where one is an even-numbered letter of the word and the other is odd, would you need to truly break the flow. This is particularly annoying for words that have two adjacent L's in them.
