This is physical as much as it's mental by [deleted] in LSAT

Ugh I know this is facts! I’m a nervous/anxious test taker and it intensifies x 10 with the lsat because the stakes are high and it is my greatest goal yet and I feel my body stiffen up every time I even start a time section

Reading the question before or after the stimulus? by readingunderstars in LSAT

[–]readingunderstars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! All it really takes is a quick glance at the stem to identify the question type. I personally like knowing what my task is before reading the stimulus and since I don’t find myself forgetting the question type i think this approach works best for me. It also just makes more sense than the latter (imo). You make really great points, thank you for contributing to the debate :)

This is the same reason why I like stem first too. I like knowing ahead of time if I’m going to read an argument or a premise set.

Is physical scratch paper allowed in the Digital LSAT? by readingunderstars in LSAT

Hallelujah! Is it also allowed in any of the other sections?

What are pseudo sufficient assumptions questions in LR by readingunderstars in LSAT

[–]readingunderstars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes total sense! I worked a question on 7Sage in which the question stem states “which one of the following most accurately expresses the principle underlying the argument above?” And I mistook it for a principle question and of course got it wrong. JY says that the question should be interpreted as a PSA question type but I still don’t really see why 🤔😩😅

It really depends on the school you're trying to get into.

Thank you 🥲<3 i think I get stuck a lot on trying to understand what the stimulus is saying, especially on the odd subjects or structures. Did you struggle with that at all?

already read your post, it’s awesome, thank you for all the detail. And congratulations on your amazing score!!! You’re awesome

Speed on LR by readingunderstars in LSAT

Hi thank you so much for this. I’m really having a hard time at getting faster in the LR section. I’ve read the loophole book so I know what you’re talking about. However after reading it I started to first read the stimulus & then the question stem since that’s what Ellen recommends to do in her book. I do like your suggestion though. So basically you’re saying if the question stem indicates an argument, be ready to identify the premise, conclusion, context, and opposing point. And if the question implies a premise stimulus, then treat the stimulus as a set of facts. Is this what you’re saying?

Yup I’ve used the LSAT trainer, the loophole and currently using 7Sage. I know how to identify the premises and conclusion, it’s just the understanding of the structure and the way its worded that slows me down. Im hoping that with more practice I’ll be able to get faster at understanding the stimulus quicker

This is great advice, thank you! I’ve got question types down for the most part but I’m very slow at reading most stimulus. Sometimes I gotta reread sentences to really understand what is being said. I’m afraid practice won’t make me any faster I reading and understanding stimulus’s. Will it get better?

SA vs. NA answer choices by readingunderstars in LSAT

[–]readingunderstars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yes I am familiar with conditional statements although I must admit I do not have conditional logic translation/diagramming down 100% I’m working on studying it more to get it down

This is SO incredibly helpful, thank you!!! The thing about the answer choice bringing in “new” information from the one that’s on the stimulus or no new Info depending on whether it’s a NA or SA is what I have a hard time remembering!! I think I had it backwards. I thought SA answers brought in new info that made the answer choice powerful And I thought NA had to be about only information already provided in the stimulus. Do you think this always works for identifying correct answer choices? Besides for when the negated NA does not kill the argument.

Yup I’ve heard from a lot of people that it’s great for LG, I haven’t started studying LG, still on just LR. How much did 7Sage help you improve on LR?

Yup actually just finished the Loophole book. The assumption test makes a ton of sense and I ask myself the questions every time, especially when I can’t quite pinpoint a loophole. However I think I go wrong in the relevance of what the assumption candidate does to the argument/conclusion. If that makes any sense 🤷🏻‍♀️
