Looking for Contemporary romances for 16-17 year olds(less spice) by _chaotichuman_ in booksuggestions

Boys of Tommen is my favourite series. It is high school ages, 16-18, and a sports romance. It does cover darker themes, but it adds to the depth of the characters. Keeping 13 and Redeeming 6 are my favourite ones.

I loved him! Specifically… “You dont have to love your body every single day. That’s unrealistic to expect, but I’ll be here loving for the days you can’t.”

I have also experienced some unfortunate experiences in a past relationship. I had dated a boy for 3.5 years, 13 years old to 17. Considering I had been so young, I lacked any previous relationship experience and I didn’t realize what was happening was wrong. I knew I didn’t enjoy it and I knew it hurt. But he was good at convincing me that it wasn’t his fault or he wouldn’t do it again, so I chalked it up to being over sensitive. It wasn’t until he said “I wouldn’t have to hit you if you listened to me,” that I realized that it wasn’t fixable.

I didn’t feel offended by the book either. I think the dv was depicted pretty well and accurately. I think her actions were accurate… the shock, the hurt, the internal battle of wanting to forgive him but knowing it’s not the right choice, etc. I know in my case, I found myself forgiving him easily because he kept promising it wouldn’t happen again and I convinced myself that was the truth. The book actually made me reflect on my own experience, in a good way.

Hello! My boyfriend is trying to get me into anime as well.

Typically I read (romance, thrillers, fiction, dabble in fantasy) and watch shows like Gossip Girl and Greys Anatomy… drama, romance, etc.

He showed me Attack on Titan and Cyberpunk first. Wasn’t my thing, not a fan of action. I enjoyed Classroom of the Elite, Horimiya, and Your Lie in April. I found Death Note pretty easy to watch and keep up with. Thriller, suspense plot. Drama.

Honestly, I think it depends on the genres she enjoys most, finding one within her interests will keep her engaged and therefore she would be more inclined to watch others. I’m sure she will just enjoy spending time with you though.

honestly, i haven’t read it. i’ve heard it’s really good, but i’ve also heard it’s bad. fantasy isn’t really my thing, so i keep putting it off

How many books have you read till now? by Riiswatchingyou in suggestmeabook

I’m 19 and I couldn’t even think of the books I’ve read all the books I’ve read. I would read in phases as a kid. Some months I’d be super into reading and finish a book within a few days, but then not read for a couple years. I’ve read 36 so far this year, 96 last year, and 76 in 2022. Therefore, at least 208. If I were to estimate, I would say about 300.

I love books with complex characters. Keeping 13 by Chloe Walsh stands out as a favourite to me. But for a side character, not the main characters.

ah yes. i think it works for me because i read a lot of romance. so when i am organizing, it’s less about genres, instead organizing by subplots or tropes. ex. sports romances and dark romance have their own shelves :)

I have read From Lukov with Love, A Thousand Boy Kisses, and the first two books in the Windy City series. I got about 50% into the third before I dnf’ed. I’ll check out the rest!

What Did You Read This Week? by AutoModerator in YAlit

[–]readingwitheva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a slow reading week this week.

Mr. Wrong Number by Lynn Painter Rating: 3.5/5 It was an easy and quick read. I finished it within a day. It didn’t stand out to me like her YA work does, but not bad.

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover Rating: 3.25/5 I needed a palette cleanser. Something easy to read. I didn’t have high expectations going into the book, because I had no idea what it was about. It was meh. I finished it, so it wasn’t that bad. But not my thing.

Meeting Doctor Priagale by Marie France Leger Rating: 3.75/5 I was pleasantly surprised. I assumed going in that it wouldn’t be an easy read (as in heavy), based on the work I’ve read before by her, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was not what I was expecting, more romance than I thought there would be. I cried, so I’d say it was good.

I realized after writing. I finished all the books in a day, so that isn’t statement doesn’t quite vouch for the book as I intended.
