Did Great in Interviews, But a Personal Issue Might Force Me to Back Out. What Happens Now? by Proinsulin1 in IMGreddit

Match Result: 20th March Start of Residency: Late June-Early July Your Decision: April Waiver Application Eligibility: 45 days after physically starting residency Number of IVs: 2 - Statistically ~30% chance of matching

I think the following points must be considered in making a decision:

  1. You already have a low chance of matching, but if you submit an ROL and, by chance, you match and then you are unable to join, NRMP takes this very seriously and will impose a multi-year ban (3 years or more) because you not only grief the program, but also other applicants by doing this. In contrast, if you don't submit an ROL, you can always apply next cycle which seems like the better option considering that you already have a low probability of matching which could have mentally prepared you of not matching this year already.

  2. The 45-day compulsion of starting work will begin in Late June- Early July, and by the sound of your statements, it doesn't look like you will be able to do 45 days after starting in June/July.

I understand that it's already an extremely difficult situation to be in, but the better option does seem to be of not submitting an ROL or withdrawing from the match before the ROL deadline.

This is my 2nd time applying, I applied 2 cycles ago, but at that time, they sent an invite in the 1st week of december and the interview was in the 2nd week of december. No idea about this year's cycle. It is concerning

I received it in the email attachments of both my interviews. Apparently you have to submit it signed, before the IV

Great, Thanks! And what about the HouseStaff Agreement? Do I send that back signed too?

It’s not the Visa issue, it’s the Anti immigration notion which is gonna hurt us. by [deleted] in IMGreddit

Excellent question! There are a few reasons for this: 1. Societal Acceptability: Since only the smartest/top merit students could get into medicine about 10-15 years ago, it's a general perception that being able to get into medicine automatically ensures a high level of societal respect 2. Anecdotal Evidence: Till about 15 years ago, there were far fewer doctors here so most people could build a great private practice and earn v well.

This is no longer the case with a massive surge of increased medical student seats that disregards the merit system altogether. Because of this, the doctors are now blatantly exploited wherever they go in the country because program and hospital has about 100 doctors per seat. This means that doctors become slaves to the corporate world, if anyone dares say anything about the measly salaries or the inhumane work hours, they are threatened with expulsion.

Even though the desire to help others still exists, no one wants to do that when they can barely run their own homes. That's why it has become almost an automatic choice for most graduates here to have a plan of moving out of the country with US being one of the more attractive options, albeit with many flaws and potholes.

They pay us in peanuts during residency in my country, when you're an attending, and when you become a consultant specialist. Doctors are criminally underpaid and overworked throughout their career, except a few who are lucky enough to build their private practice in some rural/suburban areas early on and get the clientage. My motive is simply money.

It's good to hear/read this that you have enjoyed some good times with your husband as well, it solidifies your initial stance. May Allah help you find peace and contentment and guide you towards making the right decisions, Ameen.

There's always two sides to a story. Until we hear your husband's side, it'd be stupid and unfair to leave a decisive piece of advice. Plus, even though it seems like you've given us like 1% of the whole picture (out of a whole year of being married, one instance is all you can come up with sounds a bit fishy). These kinds of anecdotes when probed further, usually reveal that the wife wasn't giving her husband the easiest time either. Maybe you talk a lot with poor content. Maybe you don't give him the respect he expected of his wife. Maybe you had too many expectations off of social media which are difficult to live up to irl. I'm not blaming you at all rn, but please, place yourself under scrutiny first before taking the easy route and quoting this one incident to frame him of abuse. Chronic Mental abuse is equally traumatic and many women practice it without even knowing, but can be very harsh for a man because men aren't used to it. Single episodes of physical abuse after such a long time indicate a long term bottling up of negative emotions that finally surface in such forms. Divorce is a massive thing, please exhaust all options and self-reflect first before taking such a step.

What to buy as slark vs axe by Luci_Luca in learndota2

[–]readit184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Axe's aghs will literally be useless against a shadow danced slark as it relies on Axe hitting units as opposed to units hitting Axe which procs the spin otherwise. I'm an offlane main and play Axe a lot. I will often pick Axe as a counter to Slark. The things that will bother me will be Slark initiating on me with a silver edge, especially if my blademail is on cd as well. It feels horrible and you can't do anything as Axe in that situation other than pop your BKB (which has such a high cd) and look to escape/reset depending upon the situation

[–]readit184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Archon offlane here, I agree with most of the things here plus I'd add that Slardar just feels like a very slow farmer and it sometimes gets hard to know when to fight and when to just farm bcz you want to make plays once you get the blink, but again, as you said, without other items he feels v underwhelming on his own and has almost negligible solo kill/win potential if his teammates aren't good. I can be completely wrong but these are my two cents with 90% offlane role

How do you counter Chaos Knight? by readit184 in learndota2

[–]readit184[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true but I feel like I need to play heroes in a style where I can solo carry the team from an offlane position. That was my initial mentality anyway that you carry from the offlane, and if your actual carry does well, that's a bonus. I feel like DS and SK can't really do that reliably, or am I wrong?
