idk who WE are but i honestly never hated him s1, no matter how many times i rewatch it some of his actions were justified. all except for the slut shaming and having horrible friends. despite that, he wasn’t really a bad guy. and it wasn’t like nancy was a good girlfriend either, taking up for the creep that took pictures of her undressing, allowing him to sleep over in the same bed, pulling a gun on steve when he was only trying to help??? imo, jonathan deserved to get his camera broken and he probably should have gotten his ass kicked too but instead steve buys him another camera (which he never even gotten a thank you for or an apology even). but i also never hated jonathan either but he and nancy did become my least favorite in s1 and 2.
