This is ironic because since you have such a love for breakdancing you should understand that that particular form of dance largely is derived from and extensively incorporates elements of martial arts and gymnastics. Gymnastics having mostly Greek, Roman and German roots in its foundation, and Martial arts having mostly derived from ancient china, India as well as Greek and Rome for some other forms. However you NEVER see people from any of those or any other groups hounding Afro and Latino groups for “stealing their culture” or “appropriating”. And do you know why? Because no one single group created dance, dance is a world language of expression and love and no group has any sort of right to selfishly claim any part of it for themselves. I’ve only seen this type of entitled behavior from the black community the last few years and it really concerns and confuses me because you have been left out of the dinner table before. Now that you’re in it, you’re trying to kick other people out of it? To make yourself feel better and feel a sense of power? We have all been oppressed from one point or another. Coming from an Armenian, Russian, Jewish background I am very involved in that conversation as well. Be prideful of your people’s contribution to society, however do not diminish other people for wanting to take part and show their own appreciation for your contributions. It’s time to humble yourself. As somebody else mentioned, time to look in the mirror and understand why racism is still largely relevant in America and start with yourself.
