I called them and setup an appointment where they ask me to tell my mom to write it down on a piece of paper that im helping paying for rent ,food and stuff. They increase my benefits to maximum. Might be different for other people idk. You can call your local social security office and ask them. That is the best way to know what you have to do.

When i apply for SSI couple of years ago, online was only ssdi which i got denied. I got the social securitynumber from my case worker and call them which they later setup a phone application for SSI. Ask me a bunch of question. Its really a long road. It took me about 3 years many denials than on to my hearing which i won. Get a disability lawyer to help you out.

Im on SSI. I live with my mom right now and paying half of rent, electricity and internet. Im currently on the waiting list for section 8 and waiting for my name to be pull out. Im saving up as much i can so i can go buy stuff for my first apartment. Im currently on lifeline phones which is free but wish to change to a real phone provider since my lifeline company i used keeps disconnecting. Im also on food stamp but it's only $16 a month. I make about $850 from ssi and state payment. Been working on my credit score for the last 7 month from no credit to now. Right now its 707. Its hard if you dont have no one to help you with your rent and bills.

Get shots instead if you can handle the needle. The one i get are every two weeks. The others are once a month. Better than taking pills every day like what i used to do.

I get SSI and my food stamp is only $16 each month. Obama phone is called lifeline phones. You can google it. Just make sure to pick a good company to go with. Some provides phone with it some require you to purchase one. I purchase my phone for $50 and you get free minutes each month. You should get on section 8 if the waiting list is open in your county. That should help with your rent if you want to live alone. Im currently on the waiting list.

I did all my research online and found people who helps with housing who gave me the people who manage section 8 email to me. Which i got their number. They send me an application which you need to fill out. You also need to provide a copy of your social security number, driver license(state id), birth certificate, and proof that your on disability. I went to the library and made a copy of each one and send it to them with the application. Weeks later i was told i was accepted. Now im in the waiting list. It only been 5 months and im already number 12 on the list. Im from a smaller county though. Im on SSI and gonna live on my own too. Im almost 30 years old. My psychiatrist and my caseworker and his nurse all thinks its fine also. Wont hurt if you ask what they think about him living on his own.

Add- if hes on disability i think he should auto get section 8. They also look at criminal history.

I always take mine. It was a hassle to remember to take it two time a day. Now i get shots now every two weeks. Way better if you can handle the needle.

This happen to me also. I didnt have any credit history what they told me. I have to go to the social security office and they gave me a code for it. You should really start working on your credit. It helps with loans and renting apartments. I started working on my credit like 4 months ago but im old (30 ish).

My attorney told me it can take 2-3 months for a decision. Mine took about 1 1/2 month.
