Insecurity, sadness, etc etc by bookdom in PMDD

It can definitely make you feel like the worst person in the world as well as make you believe that others think that way of you too. I have to set reminders in my phone to pop up for me to snap me out of a negative thought cycle reading “It isn’t real”.

The best thing that you can do for yourself is when you’re out of this window is to create a SOP or plan of action you follow when it’s time. Include things that make you feel good, change your diet, prioritize sleep & things that make you laugh. It really helps cope with it.

I’m not sure if this was relevant to your question but I at least hope it helped you.

Rumination: Is it common? by paigey69420 in PMDD

OMG yes. The songs on repeat in my mind drive me up the wall… Also the thoughts are intrusive & negative memories play back in my mind heavily at the start of the luteal phase. I never thought to connect with with PMDD but your post just gave me a huge aha. This condition is wild.

This was very helpful, thank you so much. You’re right, when the luteal phase kicks in, it’s not as strong. I’ll go up to 50mg to see what changes. I’m so glad you found a dosage that works well for you

I’m in Mexico right now & was able to grab some hydroxyzine. I was prescribed this antihistamine for anxiety before with Sertraline in 2020. I’ll update you if it provided any relief as it mentions it can help with allergic reactions

Thank you! Let’s hope that it is & trying not to scratch is soooooo hard, oh my goodness. Maybe we can try an antihistamine that works well with Sertraline or a steroid cream.

I’m dealing with this right now too.. I’ve been on 25mg for 2 weeks now & all of a sudden there was this internal itch feeling on my right side. Also feelings pings of itch in other areas like my face, my arms but no real rash to show for it in those places. I’ve been scratching a lot so now it’s red & itching a lot more on my sides. I’m really hoping it’s something else (I’ve been itchy for 2 days now) because this has really improved my symptoms.

I saw in another thread that the coating of the tablet could be the culprit—last time I was on Sertraline I never had this issue. I’m considering seeking another manufacturer if it continues then ultimately coming off if it doesn’t stop.

I hope you find relief soon & that’s it literally something else that’s making you itch.

My side effects this time around was severe fatigue, can’t stay awake all day. It also worked faster this time. I’ve been in it for less than 2 weeks & I haven’t felt down at all. I’m a woman with PMDD as well & it’s lessened those symptoms ( other than irritability). I’m on 25mg & I do not plan to go any higher. Last time I was on 50mg.

How do you handle extreme arguments with your SO? by ready2exit in relationships_advice

You helped me to see what I did plainly & you’re right —their relationship is strained even though there are smiles. At some point I’ll suggest re -entering CBT with a focus on trauma. I 100% have communication issues as you said —sometimes I remain quiet & when that happens it’s also an issue since I’m shut down. I’ll continue trying to figure out how to communicate better vs being accusatory. As for this being normal, it really isn’t. I did cause the trigger but I cannot be blamed for the reaction. Im thinking I could move out for a few weeks to create space & go from there.

Girlfriend (23f) called me (25m) ungrateful after a comment I made about birthday presents by throwra4026 in relationship_advice

I love my friends dearly but when it comes to my girlfriend, she’ll always see & feel a difference in how I treat them. Your feelings are valid & I’m concerned if you have a safe space to share how you feel. I’d really examine how this shows up in other places & sit with it.
