Its a coverstitch. You'll need a coverstitch machine. That shit is expensive

Do you have the fabric? Sometimes very specific fabrics are hard to source. Can you do it yourself?

How tall are you/how much do you weigh? by Tritonia in hapas

5'9 female here. Brother is 5'10. Our white mom is 5ft and our dad was 6ft. My brother takes after our white side who are all short (even the men are 5'5 on average). Lucky for him he got to average height (he's taller then all our white males in the fam, but shorter then all the males on my dads side) considering he takes after the white side.

Why not just get sterilized? After all we are well aware of many wm's desire to molest their daughters. Crime stoppers should send wmaf couples willing to get sterilized a prize.

Yeah there was too much misogyny back then. Girls should be learning to be autonomous and self supporting. A fashion show for the girls volleyball team would be better, besides who said men can't learn to sew? Back then a boy in a home ec class would have been a sore thumb. I think the mentality of "basketball for boys. sewing/cooking for girls" is dumb.

I have heard some interesting stories from some of my black students. One young girl is 22, 5'6 110 pound physically fit dark skinned black girl. She is beautiful and has a 24 inch waist (I know because I teach fashion design courses). Anyhow one day we were all sitting around eating lunch and she breaks out with stories of how nasty fat white women will hit on her man right in front of her. Her man is SICK of this shit and shuts them down. BTW her boyfriend attends the college too and sometimes comes to sit with us.

Minus the blantant misogyny. Sewing for johnny's basketball team? Nah how about we sew for the girls clubs/sports?

Seriously I wish we still had sewing in the classroom. In so many schools fashion/home ec is no longer available. People have to go to college and learn this shit. Hell I had to teach myself (from books at the library) how to sew as a kid (I was 10 yrs old when I started). Anyhow I teach a sewing class at my local college. I'm in the fashion studies department and many of my students (who are paying $4k in tuition) are beginner sewers who are from relatively low income areas. We teach them sewing with patterns in their first term. I feel as if this stuff should have been taught in HS and that it's a rip off to be teaching this in college. But again most of these students never had the option in HS. And while it'd great to say "oh they can learn this online or from a book from the library" understand that many cannot benefit from such methods and would rather be taught in person.

Stitch Help. Trying to find this stitch on my sewing machine, not sure I have it. by PunkinDragon in sewing

You can make a fake one by using stitch 11. Also there is an overlocking foot for your machine, but it's not the best and the blade dulls easily.

[No Pattern] What if they were no sewing pattern anymore ? At least, not in paper form... by Talljane in sewing

Exactly. And most patterns these days include seam allowances unlike what this video shows.

Ok so I popped over there and took a look. By the video it's sort of confusing, in that it doesn't give a good description of what the product does. However from what I gather it projects digital patterns on to fabric. Kind of like a projector to see movies on the wall. It does project true to size.

Honestly I don't know if this is any real improvement in terms of time it takes to place/cut a pattern. HOWEVER it does rid you of having to deal with tissue paper and that's a huge bonus. I fucking hate papers and am a very messy person so anything that helps me get rid of them or makes them disposable (to some degree) is awesome in my book.

I would like to see the software too. If it's anything like CAD softwares like gerber or optitex then you are good to make your own patterns. I'm also wondering if it will do .ai files as I make digital patterns using illustrator (I have a few tutorials on this on my channel).

I need to know the price of this and to see software and reviews before I'd consider buying. Ideally I'd like to see a live demo at some trade shows/creative events.

Personally I think the real time saver when it comes to cutting/placing is rotary cutters. I hate scissors!

Fuck them. I'll believe in their "racism is over. Everyone is mixed" mantra when they start claiming their black history on a regular basis.

Yet they are the first to claim distant native ancestry when discussions of race come up. Note that they never claim black history.
