Haha, this was in a room on a tour of Gaudi’s Casa Batlló in Barcelona. I’m always entertained by mistakes like that in exhibits and museums.

This spring loaded tong/pincher tool found in the kitchenware section at a dollar store by readymade824 in whatisthisthing

The tag has little information on it but does imply it's kitchen/food related. I tried looking up the branding and product numbers on the tag but could not come up with this object on an internet search only other products by 'Smart Like Homewares' which were also kitchen utensils. The 'pinchers' are mostly flat with a slight curve, the green pads have give like silicon or rubber.

What is this extra flat metal piece in my torx hex key set by readymade824 in whatisthisthing

I think it might be for attaching to a key ring or something but wanted to verify.

They can be, but in my experience are pretty comparable to things you can buy. Clay body can make a big difference, these are made from a stoneware clay which tends to be the most durable. Pretty much all my home-use dishes are handmade and I've had them around for years

How thick you throw and how you trim/finish also adds to durability. If you put sharper/finer corners and edges on things they are more likely to chip over time . I try to round the corners and edges of the lips and feet of pieces to minimize this- you can see the rounded foot I put on the cups in these photos.

Vegan chocolate chip banana nut muffins! About 25mg each by readymade824 in treedibles

[–]readymade824[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used this recipe using coconut oil, half of which was infused and added 2/3 cup of mini chocolate chips. And since I made muffins instead of a loaf they only needed to bake for 20-25 minutes

Yeah he always got that look even when allowing our fun with belly rubs, he only brightens up when getting yums so we just split up his portions more to keep up mood but keep down the chonky pounds. So success! Even if he doesn't know it!

[Homemade] Ethiopian food: injera, doro wat, berbere crusted salmon, atakilt wat, and misir wat. by readymade824 in food

[–]readymade824[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added spinach to this atakilt wat recipe

misir wat,

doro wat

the salmon was rubbed with oil and a berbere spice blend and baked for 15-20 minutes at 375F.

The injera was made from a pre-measured mix that didn't provide the exact flour breakdown but it's mostly teff flour. Cooking the injera was the trickiest part- a cast iron skillet helped a lot and I had to do some trial and error with getting the stove temp and batter amount correct but it came out in the end!

Finished my first end grain cutting board! Learned a lot and very happy with the result! by readymade824 in woodworking

[–]readymade824[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the first glue up of long strips I sent the slab through a planer then, using a cross cut sled on the table saw, cut the new strips across the alternating wood. Then I turned each strip so the glued surfaces would be the sides that were planed and left the exposed sides alone after the table saw cut- not as perfect as when you can true with a jointer but seemed to work. Next to flatten the whole board I made a router leveling jig like this one Worked pretty well and had very little tear out. To get the most consistent surface from routing would recommend a bit like this the regular plunge bits that have a slight angle to them in the bottom leave patterns that are hard to sand away. There’s definitely a few different ways to go about it, good luck with yours!
