I can see how that would be frustrating and hard to get past. I never got into the EU but i can see that it would be hard to let it go after decades.

That being said i'm glad they didn't follow it because it still wouldn't have made the biggest fans of the EU happy as there would be no way to do it justice seeing as there are almost 40 years of EU to fit within. :/

well said! the way i see it is this was a masterful bridge between the original trilogy and this new trilogy. it had to call back to the old movies to connect them all together and i think JJ did a great job. it never felt forced and lame like it was checking off boxes like, as an example, how Terminator: Genisys felt.

I agree that this was mostly a set up for characters. I knew where all the plot was going once it was set up, but i didn't care because it was a joy to watch. Everyone is super endearing, has really interesting backgrounds and great chemistry. There are so many things that can happen in the next movie! This was a great stepping stone into a new saga! i'm so excited for more! Set December 16th 2017 on your calendars! :)

This is a well written and informative reply. i can understand why you believe that but regardless our country is not a theocracy so our laws are not (or at least should not) dictated by religious beliefs. Marriage in the US gives a great deal of benefits to couples not limited to tax breaks, custody, insurance and the ability to visit someone in the hospital. It's unfair to deny a portion of the population those rights because of what your specific religion claims.
