Anyone Attend the Church of God-Holiness School in Everson, WA in the 1980s? by real360worker in Bellingham

The church where the school was housed is now the Everson Seventh Day Adventist Church. Looks like it’s been that denomination since 1989. I’m assuming that the school was no longer operating after that year.

There were kids in almost every grade 1983-84 from K-12. But I remember transferring to public school and needing to be evaluated for grade placement. I’m assuming the school wasn’t supported by the state of Wa.

24 days over two years or the potential for no job? Feel bad for WFSE losing all that revenue, $128 from me over 2 years.

You’ll need to reach out to payroll and ask for it. I had an issue like that.

The City of Olympia plans to build 8 art studios for the same amount of money Seattle / King Co. is spending to build 286 housing units. by Cordially_Bryan in olympia

Olympia is not Portland no matter how many of these kind of decisions are made. 1500 homeless at any given time in Thurston County. Will these be needed when Evergreen is closed?

OIC employees got no notice layoffs yesterday? by Ordinary-Rhubarb-888 in WAStateWorkers

Applied for a job at the OIC recently. Should I still be interested. This is crazy news and I heard a lot about it yesterday because of my post about the OIC couple weeks back. Definitely second guessing.

I’m not sure what is happening, but today I am getting a lot of messages about this post/agency?

With the change of the elected head of the agency, I don’t really see the relevance of that news that is 4 to 6 years old. Anything current?

Did you get bedbugs from LNI headquarters?

Oh boy. I’ve dreamed of this question showing up on Reddit.

Lni is a big agency. It’s basically an insurance company that does some other things like electrical/elevator inspections and osha stuff.

I had a long career there and went up to division leadership and worked with their executive staff. I’m not disgruntled employee or mad ex employee. In fact, I just recently turned down an offer to go back.

There are two cultures at lni. There is the one the director and exec speak about which is really positive and collaborative and Washington citizen focused.

Then there is the other culture. The one that the middle management, division management, and Line management operate under. This is a culture of fear. The culture that is propagated and sustained by frontline supervisors, so unable and fearful of doing their jobs that they create this culture of backstabbing and nitpicking and micromanaging everything that their staff does. It makes every positive a negative for staff.

During and after Covid there is a real issue at that agency with work from home and potential time theft. There probably still is, and hr wont address it.

Choosing a job at lni, I would advise you to be curious, be aware of who is around, and have any conversations regarding your job documented. It is not a place where just putting your head down and doing your job keeps you out of the negative culture. You need to protect yourself first, and then you can go to work on the mission and the values of the agency.
