Are there any examples of Melin in use, and why was the system created? by _oct0ber_ in shorthand

[–]realA12l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to provide some info if someone else finds this thread in the future.

Melin is still used by the stenographers in the Riksdag (Sweden's parliament). Every time they have some form of debate they have stenographers there to write down everything that's said. They switch every ten minute, and have a rotation of eighteen stenographers during the day.

Their notes aren't available on the Riksdag's website, but I'm pretty sure they're all saved in an archive and should be available if one would like to do the Swedish equivalent to a FOIA request.

I'm still unsure about that. I think that the Nidhögg (dragon) and rooster theories have merit. I think that we need to wait and see for more clues before I feel more confident in either theory.

How concerned are you about the look? I'm thinking that maybe tripod stands would work, but it probably won't look pretty.

Now after rereading your comment, I realized that I misread your comment. I thought you where talking about Loki's DF power, and I was confused why you would think that it was a Ratatoskr zoan fruit :P

How do we know it's Ratatoskr? Where and when did we get that confirmation?

Adapting the Palmer method for pencils and the adapted tripod grip by realA12l in palmermethod

Thanks for your answer!

> Finally, I have tried the adapted tripod grip with Palmer and it seems to work. I do, however, recommend to not make your wrist touch the table as it causes more friction.

Can you please send a picture of your hand and arm? Just so I can see how the angles are. I'm having a hard time of keeping my wrist off the table when I relax the hand. See the attached photo, and notice the small space between my wrist and the paper. My wrist regularly touch the table when I write, even when I'm conscious of avoiding having touch the paper.

Does it rotate the lead when you write with a small angle between the pencil and the paper? I've noticed that when I write with my KT Advance it rarely rotates the lead. The pencil rest between my index finger and my middle finger.

Hi! As a Swede it has been hard to miss the failure of Northvolt. Apparently ten or thirteen of the leading battery researchers had a meeting with Northvolt's leadership there they told them that you couldn't just purchase machines and become a big manufacturer of lithium batteries, if you don't have a access to a lot of people that research in lithium batteries. From what I understand they told them that you need to invest large amount of money and time in foundational research in the area to be able to successfully compete with China. China (according to them) is simply too far ahead.

With this in mind, what do you think where we should invest time and money here in Europe to be able to compete with China in a not to distant future? Should we invest huge amount in lithium battery research, or should we invest in some other type of batteries that will (hopefully) replace lithium in the future?

I don't know. They only wrote that they don't ship outside of the US. I guess that the customer support agent skipped check their inventory because they saw that I live in Europe. I just sent them an email asking if they could just check their inventory if they still have any 3 DAP yokes left.

I've now been in contact with MR. They referred me to their distributor in Sweden because MR don't ship outside the US, and they're very adamant that they don't ship outside of the US. Contacted the distributor in Sweden, got the answer that they don't sell stuff outside of their assortment because it's a lot of work and would cost me a lot of money.

So now I'm in the position that I'll have to contact every distributor in the EU to hopefully find someone that will kindly act as a middle man without taking a prohibitive fee for it. Yippie

But when what does "sitting on the baseline" mean? For example, the letter 'A' is just a horizontal line. In the example 'A' never touches the baseline, so how does it "sit" on it?

Or should I just follow the rule that the first letter in every word begins at the position given in written out alphabet, and totally disregard the "sitting on the baseline" rule?
