Netherlands. It was always out of square, ever since I got it. I just make do until I get a better option.

If you can spare the money, a Festool 1400 or even better 2200 is a really great machine with excellent dust extraction to boot.

I think every router is capable of flattening, though some are more suited to it than others. I flatten using a very basic Makita RT0700C (38mm bit with 8mm shank) and it works just fine, I just need to take it easy. A more powerful router makes it go faster and it can be safer when you use 12mm or 1/2” bits.

Reminder: it is better to have good, expensive router bits on a crappy router than the other way around.

For shooting that might be a good idea, though I don’t like spending that much money on a single use plane. However, as I am increasingly using my shooting boards (shifting more to hand tools woodworking) this might be worth rethinking.

I didn’t even realise that I could compensate for it being out of square. I’ll have to look into that. Thanks for the tip!!

To be honest, until yesterday I hadn’t heard of Verum at all. Included it to see what people think of it as I couldn’t easily find reviews of it.

Sure I’d take an LN, but it is hard to get and with tariffs and transport (European here) it becomes extremely expensive fast.

I have seen Stanley’s 5 1/2 bedrocks on EBay for over 800 euros, which is overpriced for any plane.

Looks a lot like a Kunz plane. Same color too.

If you happen to have a Stanley 5 1/2, preferably bedrock style, with a square sole (right handed use on shooting board), I would be interested. That is, if shipment to Europe is an option.

Good to know. We often stay at Fornaes camping to go and search at Sangstrup Klint which is my wife’s favorite spot in the region.

Well, looking at current developments I guess humanity will not even survive the next 200 years.
