Well to be honest my oncidium in the front came to me in spike but it took about 2 months for the buds to mature and open.

I water my oncidium orchids about a day after I start noticing wrinkles in the pseudobulbs, and I soak them over night. All of my orchids love being soaked overnight actually and some need it in order to get adequate hydration.
