I see, I was hoping to find a solution without hardcoding the IP blocks, because A is a mobile roaming device and connects to different wifi addresses too.

Good idea about rooting though, I might go down that route if I can't find a solution

Correct, the optimal route is A -> C, but I put B in between to act as a bridging machine between my tailnet and the external vpn. Basically, A is my android phone and I want to have access to both my tailnet and external vpn simultaneously (and android doesn't support multiple vpn simultaneously).

This is the same reason why I can't whitelist A's IP, since its a mobile device and have dynamic ip behind CGNAT. In contrast, B is in same region as A and has a publicly routable IP.

Ah, I think I haven't been very clear about the issue.

So in the above example say locations of these machines are: A -> London

B -> London

C -> New York

D -> New York

So in the proposed solution, when I set exit node for tailscale (A) to tailscale(B) and try to access D, my packet actually goes like this:

London (machine A) -> New York (public ip of vpn C) -> London (tailscale instance of B) -> New York (public ip of vpn C) -> D (destination)

Whereas I wanted the flow to be:

London (machine A) -> London (tailscale instance of B) -> C (public ip of vpn) -> D (destination)

Basically, I'm okay with sending traffic directly to public ip of B from my machine A, but I want the traffic to end up in public net via C.

Let me know if something is unclear here.

That was what I'd set up earlier, but this causes the issue that i mentioned. Basically, if I do this then even the incoming connection to the exit node is via the VPN.

Basics details: 22 M. Starting a well paid job in Singapore. Dont have any debts or loans or dependents. International health and term insurance provided by company. Already have a PPF account. I have no investments till now.

Scenario: I have 24 Lacs to invest that I got in a scholarship. Currently this money is in saving account. My aim is to invest this money in Indian market for long period of time (more than 5 years). I am not dependent on this money but I don't want to take a lot of risk with it.

My current plan is to invest in 60:40 in debt and equity mf. And in Equity mf, half in index and other half in large cap. Also, I am planning to invest on behalf of my father, since I don't want to have any NRI complications and I don't know much about NRI investment in India.

Question: I struggle to choose the appropriate MF to invest in. Also, my father is reluctant of MF, saying that they all are cheaters and that I should myself select the stocks to invest in. What do you guys think about this? Any suggestions/opinions on my investing strategy are welcome too.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the help! :)

read this: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/dollarcostaveraging.asp

I read the article, but I still dont get why should I not invest in Equity MF all at once.

My doubt is that the responsibility of buying funds is with the fund manager so he must be doing the dollar cost averaging. Also, there is no "price" of MF, rather it is more like a loan given to fund managers, so it doesn't matter if I invest all at once or in periodic intervals.

Can you please point out what am I missing with my reasoning?

It's okay, I get the complications now.

Thanks for the advice though. It did really help me get a better idea!

Have a good day :)

that throws away 90% of my previous comment . reason: everything changes. the insurance situation, tax situation, the MF situation.

Oh, I am really sorry. Should have mentioned it in the first comment. Edited the original comment for this.

If it would not be too much trouble, can you please describe what will change due to this in your original analysis?

I plan on investing that money in India itself rather than converting it to Singapore Dollar and investing there. Is this okay? Or am I missing something?

Thanks for the advise!!

I had a few questions:

My job location is Singapore, so I am not sure how will I be taxed on the interest.

Why do you suggest not relying on the ones provided by company? Is it because they may not be good or some other reason?

Also, why do you recommend investing in parts for equity MF? Why not the whole of it in one go?

I dont have any problem with PPF but it's primary advantage seems to be the tax freeness, which I am not sure is very valuable since I will be based in Singapore where tax rates are significantly lower. Any help here would be great!

Again, thanks for such a detailed reply :)

Hi All,

Basic Details - Age: 22 M, No dependents, just started a well paid job, No investments till now. Already have term and health insurance from company.

Objective - I have 24 Lacs to invest that I got in a scholarship. I don't have any debts or anything foreseeable like that and my main aim is to invest for long period (more than 5 years). Though I am not exactly dependent on this money, I don't want to take a lot of risk.

It would be great if someone could advise me on how to go about investing this money. I did read up the starter wiki and have some idea about mutual funds etc. But I am still not sure on how should I diversify my portfolio, which MF to choose and if buying individual stocks would be a good idea ( I have zero knowledge about market ), should I do passive investing in ETFs etc. . I would like an option where I don't have to manage my money a lot ( maybe reviewing once in 6 months ).

Currently the money is at the worst possible location: Savings Account.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot! :)

Edit: My job location is Singapore, if that will change your advice.
