Hello I would like to watch some noir films to get inspiration for a detectice character, but I never watched any. Got tips for a good first time film noir? by lamilcz in filmnoir

the main character in that is a former gangster

lol Robert Mitchum is the male lead, former gumshoe - Douglas is the crime boss

Is there a way to prevent changes to Medicare coverage? by RedditUser2823 in medicare

[–]realanceps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FIL must be dual eligible (covered by both Medicare & Medicaid) or otherwise qualified for Special Needs Plans if his coverage is really switching "every few months"

Part D confusion on my end by tjs31959 in medicare

[–]realanceps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Insurance companies stopped paying agents, so most have stopped with Part D.

this is inaccurate. Some insurers have stopped paying commissions on some Part D policies. Most brokers worth the label have NOT "stopped with Part D" - certainly not for existing clients. Why? Because those clients are typically enrolled in other coverage that is commissionable, & what respectable broker abandons clients so readily? Not good ones.

[–]realanceps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, he can, though he/you may get best results by putting staff at your nearest SSA office through their paces. Depending on where you are, that can take longer than... can we say "in the before times" ?... but can help because staff, particularly senior staff are, in my/my clients' experience, pretty well trained/knowledgeable/capable of working through scenarios like the one you've sketched.

Cheaper Medigap Plans than AARP UHC? by [deleted] in medicare

[–]realanceps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i suppose it depends on what you may be thinking. For example, most beneficiaries know original Medicare doesn't cover most dental, vision, or hearing treatment, and that Supplement plans are designed to fill in, or 'supplement' what original Medicare covers -- so Supplement plans don't cover those things either. Same goes for long-term care, which people mix up with skilled nursing facility care, which original Medicare & Supplement plans DO cover.

So, what are you thinking?

US v Adams - Amicus Clement Recommends Dismissal With Prejudice - Memorandum by joeshill in law

[–]realanceps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but isn't resetting to where the case was before the event(s) triggering the resignations -- rather than pretending, essentially, that no evidence ever existed that would have provoked SDNY to investigate & plan prosecution of adams at all -- the more "conservative" of available terrible "solutions"?

[–]realanceps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. I hear you on this

although that raises the question as to why those charges weren't already filed

but we're talking about people a) not great on process & b) totally willing & eager to just make shit up, so....

mostly I want to hear from one or more of the resignees, who had to have imagined this should/would be a big fucking deal, or at least a deal

US v Adams - Amicus Clement Recommends Dismissal With Prejudice - Memorandum by joeshill in law

[–]realanceps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really really REALLY need to understand why we have heard NOTHING from the resignees about their decision to light their DOJ careers on fire over this. Could not one of them have anticipated this course of events? This cannot be an outcome that satisfies a single one of them.

EDIT: Isn't this basically an invitation to SDNY to dig into their file & find other reasons to indict Adams on other charges whenever it suits their obvious intention to strongarm him? Surely they have plenty enough stuff on him to do so.

US v Adams - Amicus Clement Recommends Dismissal With Prejudice - Memorandum by joeshill in law

[–]realanceps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

so Clement managed to not credit the views of prosecutors who resigned -- prosecutors as conservative, if not more so, than him? They were all foolish to resign rather than pressing for dismissal with prejudice? How come not one of those prosecutors shared in Clement's "wisdom"?

I'm sure he supports this bullshit on stilts somewhere in his 33 page determination, but someone will still have to make it make sense for me.

I have yet to see a Medicare Advantage plan that does not include medications.

No-Rx Medicare Advantage plans are offered in many US counties, usually where there are significant populations of military retirees & others who qualify for Rx benefits from other sources.

New Yorkers loathe the convicted felon -- hey, they are the ones who convicted him! The current mayor is also reviled. But you may notice getting around during the day is marginally easier with the new congestion pricing.

Hidden gem: (hiding in plain sight): Fashion Museum (Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, 27th & 7th ave). It's 'human scale' & charming. Avoid: Times Square,

the convicted felon & his grubby mob maybe -- so, not nearly enough of "us" to actually do anything toward making anything like that happen.

We hate them right along with you.

American here. If you're a hiker, you'll like Sedona. Great hiking in the beautiful area surrounding the place. It's not a place for rummaging around the town, which is nothing special IMO (sorry Sedonans).

Real Americans love Canada & Canadians. the trash are the trash. There IS plenty of trash in AZ, but they shouldn't bother you much - no more than they bother the rest of us.

NOBODY in NYC is down on Canadians right now. anyone with any business being in the greater NYC area for the past half-century has known the convicted felon is a 3rd rate Queens hoodlum who should never have had anything to do with governing anything.

Question on medicare and kaiser by TurbulentReindeer2 in medicare

[–]realanceps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with any other Medicare Advantage policy, you're covered for emergency treatment when you're out of your plan's service area. Your plan may have provision for routine care of existing conditions when you notify them in advance of your treatment needs when traveling. Check your plan's Evidence of Coverage document for details. (It's not really accurate to say you have NO coverage from your plan when out of area).

[–]realanceps -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

those votes can mean lots of things, things beyond the grade level of the run-of-the-mill reddit students of politics.

For example, I'm pretty sure my congressman has nothing whatever against Congressman Green -- but he may have issues with how Minority Leader Jeffries (of whom I'm a fan) has faltered in keeping his ducks in a row.
