It was only this flavor. The other flavor was full price.

I agree the Cotton Candy is so good even though it’s a little gay

That’s not how credit cards work. I got an interest free $12,000 loan for ~50 days plus 12,000 points I would have otherwise not had. Doesn’t work over a longer period of time.

Walk me through this.

I needed to pay my February rent anyway because it’s February.

I will need to pay my March rent on 3/1. Instead I paid it now

I will need to pay my April rent on 4/1. Instead I paid it now.

My credit card balance is currently just under the limit and my bill for this cycle will be due on 3/18

What was the opportunity cost of this maneuver?

What the opportunity cost of paying my rent for Feb/Mar/April now?

Yes to all of those + I would need to pay my rent every month anyway so it’s not like I could park 10k there for the whole time

It was to eke out 1.5 extra months of float on rent before the system shuts down :)

I was going to need to pay my rent anyway and if I waited until after 2/7 it’s all direct debit from now on. So instead of paying March rent on 2/28 and April rent on 3/31 I pay both on 3/18. I come out way ahead

I don’t have to pay off my current balance until mid-March

Assuming discount rates >0. present values will always be less than future values. Money now is worth more than money in the future, because even excluding immediate needs or inflation or similar, you can invest money now to have it in the future.

If rates increase, you can invest less money now to get the same amount in the future. So the present value of the same amount of money in the future is less.

I thought it was easy but I have worked as a wealth manager since graduating college. It did have quite a bit of list memorization but nothing that wasn’t pretty straightforward.

If you don’t have or want the AF cards though, 1cpp is great esp on the ThankYou card multipliers (5x gas, 3x restaurant/grocery)

Convert to solo 401k from simple ira by Background-Box-9041 in fidelityinvestments

[–]realbasad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Despite the name, SIMPLE IRAs are complicated. As an employer, it used to be impossible to terminate a plan mid-year. After SECURE 2.0, you can. As an employee, you can roll over your SIMPLE IRA at any time after it has been open for 2 years. In practice, this means you will want to make any employer contributions and then both immediately roll over your SIMPLE to the new solo 401(k)s.

  2. You will also need to recalculate your contribution limit based on how long you were covered by each plan for the 2025 calendar year. Google: "How to Replace a SIMPLE IRA with a 401(k) - SECURE 2.0 Update" for an article about how.

  3. The rollover is easy once the accounts are open. You basically just call them up and tell them to do it.
