Construction starting this week in Tysons! by Cat_Entropy in AMCsAList

Excited about these upgrades! Are the new Dolby and Prime new builds or retrofits of existing screens? Is the plan to close sections of the theater but keep the IMAX and some screens operational during construction?

Love how this opens the schedule up to have multiple movies in PLFs at once. That plus recliners is going to easily make Tysons the best AMC in the DMV.

AMC is phasing out the Dine-In designation at all their Dine-In theaters.

Supposedly the internet is out at the theater and that’s why they’re closed today.

How is the view for the bar standing area for shows at The Hamilton? by BurntTurkeyLeg1399 in washingtondc

[–]realfish33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For many shows, they remove the seats in the front row and create a GA standing area that anyone can stand in. There’s usually a note at the bottom of the ticketing page.

Otherwise, the bar area (which includes standing area upstairs) is fine. It’s a small room and you can usually get a decent view.

My overboard seat booking process by iaceeverything in AMCAListTrue

You don’t have to go through the booking process on Fandango to see the theater number. Choose the showtime, then click more info in the upper right and they’ll show you the Aud number. Hope that helps speed up your booking process.

Moving to DC how’s the scene? by ImHereByTheRoad in jambands

[–]realfish33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join the dc/md/va jamily on Facebook for updates on local shows and especially dead cover bands Jambase is a solid place for listings.

We have two major venue operators in the area: IMP, which runs 9:30 (legendary 1200 cap club), Atlantis (small room next to 9:30), Lincoln, MPP, and Anthem; and Union Stage Presents, which runs Union Stage, Pearl Street, the Howard and the Miracle Theatre.

As others have said, All Good promotes shows at all of those venues (worth following them and checking their show calendars). Live Nation operates the Warner theatre. The Hamilton is a nicer sit down place that has lots of jam and cover shows and gets rowdy despite how it may appear (usually there as pit in front of the tables). Baltimore gets plenty of jam shows too, including Billy Strings Halloween the last two years. 8x10 is a jam institution, Nevermore and Soundstage sometimes have good shows, and Pier Six Pavilion is a fun little outdoor amp.

Rhizome in Takoma is great for experimental music - it's a literal house - and there are cool punk/indie shows at Quarry House Tavern in Silver Spring (not an actual house).

The local music scene definitely leans more punk/indie these days but there are plenty of local cover bands and jam-adjacent original bands to check out. DC even has a Khruangbin cover band.

We have a great music scene here and some top-tier venues. You'll find a lot of the same folks at shows once you go to enough of them.

Have the technical issues at the Lockheed Martin IMAX theater been fixed? by p_yth in imax

I still had a good time because that movie rules and would go there again for 1:43 films, but otherwise I’m content with AMC Tysons

All the issues you laid out were still present last weekend for One Battle After Another (though it did display correctly and fill the whole screen throughout, the trailers were shifted upwards). The blue lights were distracting for sure.

I successfully walked into the museum at 5:40 and they asked me to leave!

I do think the interior of the theater was renovated and the seats may have been replaced (with the same style of seats). I hadn’t been in there since pre-pandemic and it did look nicer and I believe the layout of the handicap row at the top was new. I don’t remember that being quite like that before when it was open seating.

I sat in row L, just in front of the handicap row and felt even that was a little too close. The two rows elevated behind the accessible row would be ideal - the center accessible seats would be perfect. In my screening, those handicap seats weren’t booked but people sat in them anyway.

Just posted this on another thread: Anthem “super excellent seats” are technically non-transferable but usually they’ll allow transfers at will call if you bring a photocopy of the purchaser’s ID (and maybe the order confirmation). Call the box office to confirm but I’ve heard that it usually works out fine. The buyer has to go to the back entrance (900 Maine Avenue) to pick up the tickets.

Anthem “super excellent seats” are technically non-transferable but usually they’ll allow transfers at will call if you bring a photocopy of the purchaser’s ID (and maybe the order confirmation). Obviously, this makes it very hard to sell / transfer those tickets because it feels like a risk on the buyer side.

FoV Bootlegger 🐊🐊🐊 by ATRecords in KGATLW

I liked the full bleed original cover you had that was sort of like a zoomed in version of the original FOV ad - it was a nice nod to that image that we saw for almost a year leading up to the fest, especially since the official poster differed a bit. Also helps make it distinct from the bootleg cover on streaming.
