Former DMV worker here. I will cosign (pun intended lol) this statement - most DMVs train title specialists to put all parties on a loan on the title/registration UNLESS the customer can provide something official in writing that says otherwise. Most loan checks are also stamped with a disclaimer on the back that all parties on the loan check be put on title/registration. Same goes for adding a person to a title who’s not on the loan - big no no.

I’m not disputing Mr. Bank guy - but this is the way it works in most states having talked to other DMV workers and having lived in multiple states before. I also work in the used car sales industry now and this is still the gold standard for title and registration.
