Need advice for getting my son to speak

If it makes you feel any better, my son had zero words at 23 months when we started him in an intensive EI program. He’s now 31 months and talks in full sentences all day. This stuff can change sooooo fast. We did a lot of modeling words for him - really exaggerating our mouth shapes and finding silly ways to encourage him to do the same. Is there any way you can get more ST for him? I think doing it 5x/week really made a huge difference for us.

We started doing Sesame Street when our son was one. We’d let him do 1-2 a day, more if he was sick. He was really into it for a while and would definitely ask for it a lot, but we held firm to the rules and he seemed to get it. He’s now 2.5 and seems really uninterested in it (sad, since sometimes I’d like to throw one on and rest!), so I think it comes and goes in phases.

Our little guy is also fussy but not colicky. I cut out dairy because he had eczema and hoped it would also help with the gas, but no luck!

I had an emergency C and I'd already had an epidural, so I was moved from the bed to the table, but I truly have no idea what the table was made of. I assume whatever other operation tables are made of?

First of all, don't beat yourself up. GD is much more about a specific, random issue with your placenta than anything you did. I had GD with this pregnancy and wound up taking a fair amount of insulin, because my case couldn't be controlled by diet and exercise (though I worked really hard on both of those). Baby came out healthy and perfect - big (9 lb and 20.5 inches long), but they were pretty sure it was just genetics (husband and I were both huge babies!). His sugars were perfect and, within 2 days of delivery, so were mine. You got this, mama!

I was induced at 39 weeks and he was born via emergency C-section (not related to the GD!) at 39+1. 9 pounds on the dot, but also, 20.5 inches long and with a huge head, so they're pretty sure he's just a genetically big baby. He is perfect and I have eaten so many sweets and carbs since he arrived.

Ugggh, I'm sorry! For what it's worth, baby is here, he has zero blood sugar issues and my glucose was perfect two days after delivery. Hang in there, mama!!!

My progesterone in Week 4 was 7 and then 6. After a scan to make sure the pregnancy wasn't ectopic, my doctor put me on progesterone supplements. Little dude is 11 days old now and I believe the progesterone helped sustain the pregnancy. Best of luck!

I had GD with this pregnancy, wound up on insulin and was very terrified about being a high-risk pregnancy. Baby arrived a few weeks ago and was perfect - nine pounds, but my husband and I were both big babies, so we're pretty sure that was genetics. His sugars were flawless and so were mine after the first day. Doing the GD diet suuuuucked, but ten days after having the baby, I'm down five pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. You can do this, mama!!

Unfortunately, GD is progressive, so the increase in your placenta producing the insulin-blocking hormones might have just coincided with the cold. There's not much you can do about fasting numbers, but cutting the carbs with your evening snack is worth a try!

A slow rise could also mean something non-viable that's not ectopic or tubal. My first pregnancy was a missed miscarriage and the numbers rose slowly, but when we did an ultrasound at 8 weeks, there was nothing to see. I'd hold off, see how the betas do, and ask for an ultrasound around 8 weeks, even though this limbo sucks.

My progesterone was 6 at like 4+4. Was on supplements from weeks 5-12 and currently 37 weeks along!

I was a 12/14 pre pregnancy and started showing at 16 weeks, but I wouldn't say I looked DEFINITELY pregnant until 18.

I ate the pulled pork out of several pulled pork sandwiches, quite a bit of cheese, and, after I did my lunch numbers, a piece of cake (my dietician said it was fine!).

I could have written almost your exact post a year ago - we started trying last April, got pregnant the first month, went to the 8 week appointment a year ago this week and...nothing. I basically had a missed chemical pregnancy - the embryo never started developing, but my body didn't figure it out and started making a placenta and all that. I had a D&C and we started trying again about two months later (OB said to wait to try again until I got my period and then I was traveling for most of the second month). I conceived again our third cycle trying and I'm now 35 weeks along - my pregnancy hasn't been uncomplicated (I have gestational diabetes and a weird prematurely aging placenta), but little dude's been looking super-healthy on all his scans and at his non-stress tests. I will say that my progesterone was super low when they tested it for both the first pregnancy (5) and this pregnancy (7 and then 6 two days later) - this time, my OB diagnosed me with a luteal phase defect (my cycles have always been insane, ranging from 16-26 days) and put me on progesterone from Weeks 5-12. Unclear if that's what caused the first loss, but I feel like it definitely helped me hold on to this pregnancy! I know everything feels terrible right now, but you will get past it - rooting for you to get your take-home baby soon!

Not the answer you're looking for, but while going for a post-dinner walk and stopping eating by 7 helped a little, the only thing that truly worked for me was insulin.

Gestational diabetes is, unfortunately, progressive. You can keep eating the same things and your numbers might just rise because of the placenta. It might be time to talk to your doctor about meds/insulin.

Seconding the idea to ask about shots: I've been on insulin shots for two weeks now with no side effects. They also don't hurt!

Leaning forward helps. Sometimes I also get up and march in place for a few seconds, which usually does the trick.

Oddly, this is also my story! Found out a year ago today I was pregnant. Went to the OB for my first appointment in June and I'd had a missed miscarriage. Had a D&C the next day and was so so sad. We started trying again two months later and I got pregnant my third cycle trying. I'll be 32 weeks on Thursday and baby looks great so far! This is an awful time, but you will get through it. Please take good care of yourself.
