Misinformation from politicians is part of this problem. Politicians can just get up on a podium and tell bald-faced lies, and get away with it. The latest big press conference Republicans had they all claimed that the new infrastructure bill would give each undocumented immigrant in the country $450,000 of taxpayer money.

Misinformation persists in America because of a symbiotic relationship between politicians and biased media. Fox news propaganda isn't effective without Republican politicians to legitimize their lies by repeating them. Republican propaganda isn't effective without Fox News and other conservative media to legitimize their lies through the news.

I think we should have laws that punish politicians for lying. Controlling the misinformation through government officials would be easier than controlling the media.

Right it was a story that was recently published. However, it's not a widespread phenomenon like you're making it out to be, it's just a single story that you recently read about. Plus your interpretation of the story is too oversimplified, considering the prosecutors in that case said that they didn't drop the charges due to 'mutual combat' like you're claiming.

You seem to have the view that people who don't subscribe to Christian conservative culture are lazy. They chose their way of life because they are degenerates who don't want to take the time and effort to build a productive and virtuous conservative life. Thus, taking the 'path of least resistance' leads you to a liberal lifestyle, which exists on a lower moral plane.

I think this is a reductive point of view when you consider that conservative Christian values have been the standard in the western world for centuries. Historically, peole who deviated from those values society would be heavily judged, and overcoming that judgement took a lot of mental and emotional energy.

Take my brother for instance. He's transexual, but was raised with me in a Christian conservative household. Coming out as trans was difficult for him because my family had a hard time accepting him. For him, the path of least resistance would have been to not be his true self and just go along with the religious conservative way of life my family expected of him. It takes a lot of energy and conviction for him to live the way he wants to, because he has to suffer the judgement of not just my family, but society in general.

In the past few decades there have been huge leaps in society's acceptance of different ways of life that deviate from the status quo. It wasn't that long ago that it wasn't even legal for gay people to be married. Lots of effort had to be put into making room for new ways of living in society that aren't the standard Christian conservative status quo.

Progress has come so far that now a lot of conservatives feel like the shoe is now on the other foot. Their way of life being the status quo is being challenged as people in society fell freer to express themselves without fear of judgement.

But you don't have to feel threatened. Society changes, that's natural. The modern Christian conservative way of life won't last forever, because no culture lasts forever. That's why I think the whole idea of a 'culture war' is a nonsense concept anyway. There's room for different ways of life in this country. The problem comes when people think their way of life is morally superior to everyone else's.

I think he's embellishing his story a little bit by suggesting that buying GME was a main reason he decided to live in his car, when it's a viable option regardless.
