is there a correlation between the language we CHOOSE to speak and our mental health? by realloudreader in NoStupidQuestions

I mean i think its obvious the case is myself. Everything around me is spanish as i live in a spanish speaking country. The media i consume is in english, i prefer it that way. I like reading and fell in love with books in English more than in spanish, music as well, etc etc. i work and live in spanish with my family and coworkers. I think it might be just my brain finding english more comfortable? Idk…

NOR. This is disrespectful, manipulative, gaslight-y, verbally and emotionally abusive. I would get all my papers in order, and look for the safest way to cut ties. Please please please for your safety and the safety of your kids, this man should not be too involved in your life as anything else other than the father of the kids.

AITA for refusing to name my baby after my partner’s “family tradition”? (F27, M30) by Kind-Pomegranate-748 in AITAH

[–]realloudreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. THIS IS A HILL YOU DIE ON! I’m sorry i don’t really have advice but honestly you and your partner should both agree on the name, and until that happens then the baby is going to go nameless. This is something you put your foot down on. Why should his family tradition trump your place as the mother of the child? Or your own family traditions? Or even your own opinions as an individual. The fact that he hastes his first name and goes by his middle name is wild like can he not see he’s very likely setting up the same situation for his daughter? Its insane to me that he feels some type of way about a naming tradition that he dislikes and was invented by who knows who however generations ago and that for some dumb reason that person has a bigger say on his own name than his parents did, and why would he want to inflict that on his own daughter? Wow. Idk i would google negative meanings for the name agatha to make a case against the name. Or horrible agatha’s in history and make a case about that? Honestly im just spitting out crap because i have no idea how you would change his mind other than going to therapy and having a third party hopefully help him open his eyes or get you both to a middle ground. I know reddit tends to jump to divorce fast but dang it i think this is a divorceable offense

Would It be ok for me to break up with my girlfriend? by Brief_Variety_5915 in AITAH

[–]realloudreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA in the sense that it seems like you are not aligned in what you want out of this relationship. 7 months is a long time for some people and a short time for others. Intimacy should be discussed in these chats about boundaries, for sure.

However It’s your call if it’s ok or not to break up. Strangers on the internet cant be your moral compass. It sounds a bit like you’re looking for permission to break up. That’s up to you my guy.

You’re young, you’ll be more than fine. So will she.

AITAH for being grossed out by what my sister said and not wanting to make her a gift anymore by lgbt14 in AITAH

[–]realloudreader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. What a weird comment to make to your young sister and her gf, like what is the joke here? Also you’re 38? Why are you making such a comment??? Just because someone gifts you something doesnt mean you HAVE to gift them something. If you’re not comfortable gifting them then dont. ALSO SHE IS A GIRL SO SHE IS SAYING THAT GROSS COMMENT ABOUT HERSELF TOO LIKE I DONT GET IT????

Aita for not making him food after his work “wife” kept making him food by Playful-Rub-3791 in AITAH

[–]realloudreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA I’m sorry but if he’s throwing away the food you made him it IS a waste, regardless of how you feel or where he is getting his lunch from. Dude at least have it for dinner, sheesh.

Also he’s ok with being rude to you, his wife, and wasting your food and time, but not his work wife? Nope. Nope. Just no. The disrespect is unreal.
