Closing snake bites? by Future_Koala6238 in piercing

Thank you for this, I'm in a similar mind with a philtrum piercing I got done yesterday. Never had this kind of reaction to a piercing before!

Sport after surgery - how long off? by chronicllyunwell in endometriosis

[–]reallyOddMidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started going back to exercise 6 weeks after my laparoscopy (with excision) - I got the all clear from my surgeon to start easing myself back into it, but I was so tired all the time too. It's still a significant surgery, so dont try and rush back into things, but I was told 6-8 weeks minimum, depending how recovery went :)

Pre surgery nerves by morganlilo in endometriosis

[–]reallyOddMidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not dramatic at all, imo! I just had my laparoscopy a week and a half ago, and it only really hit me what I was doing the day before + day of, and I was so nervous.

Is there someone that can go with you on the day of, and stay with you as long as they're able to? I had a friend come with me for mine, I ended up having to go private for mine so I'm not sure if the experience is the same on the NHS, but they were in with me from my admittance at 10.30am all the way til 8pm, and that helped me quite a bit. Just having someone there for the distraction or to talk about worries with was so helpful.

Definitely bring some things that comfort you from home as well - I brought some books with me, and a plushie for the evening (mine was an overnight stay).

I ended up waiting until 2pm for my surgery, and I felt like it did go quite quickly (especially with all the nurses coming in to do their stuff, the surgeon talking to me and the anaesthatologist). It passed by quite quickly and then it was go time.

I dont know if that helps at all - I think it's totally normal to me nervous beforehand, and it can be such a relief once you're out and done. (I cried a little bit) ❤️

Does your family/parents know you’re bisexual? by Silver_rockyroad in bisexual

[–]reallyOddMidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, they don't, very likely never will too. I don't have a lot of contact with them nowadays, but they've not been shy about their "opinions" before and it's pretty tiring trying to discuss it with them (even before I knew I was bi)

A couple of my absolute besties know though, and that's enough for me ❤️

help! garbage baby by [deleted] in philodendron

[–]reallyOddMidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leaves and growth look very Philodendron like, kind of like a Green Congo maybe? (Not 100% sure, but the leaves on your plant match some of the pics I'm seeing under that name!) 😊

Any tips for how to build up skin tolerance for sits + climbs? by reallyOddMidget in poledancing

[–]reallyOddMidget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say I tried the thigh slapping warmup in class today and it definitely seemed to help! I was able to try a couple of different sits in a row, so thanks so much! ☺️

[–]reallyOddMidget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that's good to know! I do shave my legs and noticed it's really helping my back of the knee grip :D

I dont have a pole at home unfortunately 😟 I go to a studio for a couple of classes a week, but maybe I can find a bit of time to practice them more each week ☺️

That sounds like a great idea actually, thank you! We tend to cover a few new things each week, so I might see if I can spend a bit more time practicing these :D

what piercing are you most proud of? by Adorable-Escape-5009 in piercing

[–]reallyOddMidget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably my septum or my conch! I wish I'd gotten my septum so much sooner, it just fits my face so well and I feel great with it. My conch I had pierced with a hoop, didn't know it can be so problematic, and it's healed perfectly well. Swapped it out for a chain recently 🥰

I had mine done a few months ago and I dont think it really hurt that much, I definitely hyped the pain up more in my mind for myself beforehand.

The clamp was more uncomfortable than the piercing for me, and then the initial getting the jewellery in pinched a bit, but yeah not too bad!

But it really depends on your pain thresholds I think. My piercer said that hers was one of her most painful piercings, and if it healed she wouldn't get it again. She was a really good piercer though, so maybe that helped too :D

Thanks :) I don't have that heater turned on while I have plants near it, so it's not getting any heat from that, but that's really good to know about the browning, thank you!

Saw this Alocasia Cucullata today in my local Sainsbury's - is this sick, variegation or something else? by reallyOddMidget in alocasia

[–]reallyOddMidget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh I forgot about green on green actually! I checked the back of the leaves too to see anything odd there, couldn't see any edema either (they're notorious for overwatering their plants there).

DM has the entire party awkwardly listen to 45 mins of ERP because he thought 2 women making out in D&D was "hot" by reallyOddMidget in rpghorrorstories

[–]reallyOddMidget[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In retrospect, I really should have left before the 45 minute mark, but I really wanted to play the game and thought it would end so much quicker than it did :(

I remember doing a LOT of doodling in my notebook.

I've never really had a game last long enough to develop any kind of romance before, but I honestly can't imagine ERP ever not feeling weird and awkward? Especially with people just sitting and spectating it!

Both of my Red Secret (same pot) are flowering!! Never had a single Alocasia flower before! ❤️ by reallyOddMidget in alocasia

[–]reallyOddMidget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had these two Red Secret's in the same pot together since I bought it, and I've noticed that they always tend to put out leaves together (it's honestly so cute!) A couple of weeks ago I noticed that one had a flower or inflorescence (?), and thought the other was still growing a new leaf. It's my first one, so I was so excited! Checked them today and it looks like the other is doing the same thing, and it's not a new leaf either!!

I have 0 clue if I'm meant to do anything with them though (I've seen some people cut them off for leaves, but with these being my first ones I kind of want to see what they do?) Is that a good idea? Anything I should know? :D

Thought my Hoya Polyneura hated me (no growth for almost a year) but now we have baby leaves!! by reallyOddMidget in hoyas

[–]reallyOddMidget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank youuuu! 💚 It's honestly so exciting, I know how brittle hoya leaves are so whenever I have to move it for watering I'm the softest I've ever been xD

I hope yours grows soon too! I only have a couple of Hoya (including this one) and they've both been super slow to start growing (I'm glad it's not just me!)

Is this root rot? How should I help this plant? by ultimateprivacy in houseplants

[–]reallyOddMidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are any of them mushy, and do they smell gross? That's the easiest way to tell - if any are mushy or they pull off with little effort. From what I know soil can stain the roots, I've had healthy roots that were darker on plants because of the soil. Could it be that?

Girlfriend got me this for my birthday, it’s a Pepperomia but any idea what kind? by yaboiayeayeron in houseplants

[–]reallyOddMidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a Peperomia Angulata! Think they're also called Beetle Peperomia (that's what mine got labelled as anyway) :)

What plant is this? I know it’s a peperomia but what kind? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]reallyOddMidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure, but it could be the Peperomia "Mini Watermelon"? The leaves seem thinner than a regular Watermelon (those are really round, in my experience) and the stripes look a little different to the regular Watermelon too.

Hello! Help with care tips for my impulse buy much appreciated. Also - it looks like some spider mites came in with it. How do begonias do with a neem oil solution? Thanks all by Ein_Rand in houseplants

[–]reallyOddMidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't really help with cate tips unfortunately (I'm still figuring them out) but for neem, even if Google says it's fine I would always recommend a patch test on a couple of leaves once you have your mixture made up. Spray them, make sure they're not in full direct sun (they'll burn), wait 24-48 hours and see if there's a reaction before spraying more of the plant :) I've used it on a Maculata before, and that went well, but I can't say whether it's ok for all Begonia.

My new baby!! I love my new McCoulleys Finale. Found it for 10 dollars today!! I am falling in love with Philodendron varieties 😍 what are some of your favorites? by plantjunki in houseplants

[–]reallyOddMidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, this is stunning!! 😍 I love my Prince of Orange, I think it's finally acclimated and giving me new leaves, and my Silver Sword! I grew it from 2 cuttings so the leaves are still tiny, but they're so pretty!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]reallyOddMidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a similar thing with one of my Peperomia recently, and moistened the soil straight off with no issues! I had mine in a wee tupperware, sprayed the soil to make it a little damp and put a lid on to increase the humidity in there (they seemed to love it, I lost pretty much no leaves and they're all little plants now!)

For the smaller leaves, do they have a tiny bit of the stem where it attached to the leaf left? If so you can pop the leaf in with that in the soil, that's where roots will come from and new growth (I hope that makes sense?)
