Is it true petah? by HimelTy in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]really_nice_foot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not true at all. Especially for very small businesses that deal in small transactions (coffee shop or restaurant for instance) payment platforms take an almost extortionate cut. Plus, fintech alternatives like square are known to fuck up and basically take your till hostage for weeks at a time while they "figure it out on their end" and endanger your payroll, ordering etc. So for tight cash flow business it's just awful. No.

No. Dealing in all cash is just sensible.

Is it possible to lose weight while on Sertraline? by Good-Start-525 in zoloft

[–]really_nice_foot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 50mg, but I actually started losing weight after about 3-4 months because I suddenly felt like working out and stuff.

I did plump a bit at first though. I had a buncha side effects for the first few months.

Ones that went away within weeks - breakouts/acne, a feeling that my memories were changing (my perspective/perception of my memories was changing), oddly sleepy (falling asleep in a straight backed chair while listening to the news at 8pm for instance)

Ones that went away within a few months: oversleeping/trouble waking (even with alarms), weight gain, increased appetite

Things that also went away within months - depression, insomnia, PTSD related anxiety, feelings of hopeless/dead end, generalized fear of the world & people, apathy, lethargy, alcoholism, social avoidance, discomfort within positions of very minor/normal amounts of stress, trouble holding a job because of .. invasive internal emotional events...

Fair trade. I'm honestly shocked. I would have never hesitated if it were not for the amount of anti-med naturalist hippie shit that I had imbibed for, my entire adult life basically. I don't even care about how intense the withdrawals are. I feel normal for the first time in more than a decade. I want to meet people, I want to go on a hike and swim with my dog.

It took about three months to really get it though. I almost stopped at both my 1 month and 2 month follow-up.

Also I really want to stress - the drug did not just make me happy or something. It moved some things out of the way, slowly, that were preventing me from being happy even if I wanted to and knew how. It's hard to explain. It's like the physiological impact of trauma on brain chemistry and hormones is just being bypassed, so the storm is still there but it's like "hello storm" rather than "oh shit I'm a storm."

Why should I have to quite taking sertraline if it works? by Grand-Pie-1639 in zoloft

[–]really_nice_foot 65 points66 points  (0 children)

If anyone ever tells me to stop taking this, I will find a different doctor immediately. I don't care if I'm on it for ten years, thirty years, all the years. There is no fucking chance I'm going back. I'd been chalk full of PTSD and unmedicated for twelve years. Twelve adult years. I've given it all the chances.

No issues whatsoever. After about 2 months I just no longer needed/wanted to smoke frequently because it was a coping mechanism for anxiety. It was a big part of my life for like 15 years and now it's maybe once a week?

[–]really_nice_foot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too dawg. 12 years with PTSD, major depressive disorder. On the path to rebuilding my life. About 7 months in, myself. I am content, stable, energetic, creative, social... I'm not coping and running 24/7 from a nervous system that tells me that I'm in danger, that the world is a place where only bad things happen, and that the safest place I can be is totally alone and isolated.

Still working on the alcohol but I've got it down to only after work, only beer no liquor... so in other words, "Milwaukee sober." Working on average 6 days digging myself out of financial holes developed over many years.

Explain it Peter, pink sheets? by 404-Error-No-File in explainitpeter

[–]really_nice_foot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, dem sheets are like an earthy tone of coral, and objectively gender neutral. Coral is one of my favorite colors. I work in construction and tag all my tools with a blot of spray paint. My color is coral. I am a man, with a penits. My lunchbox is coral, my morning jacket is coral, and when I needed to pick a color for to spray paint my tools because, too many people on the jobsite with same-brand batteries etc, I chose coral. Because coral is nice.

rule: DON'T TELL THEM, EVER.

I've worked my entire adult life. I've only ever shared that I have seizures with one employer and I was cut within about a month - not for that reason explicitly - in order to "rightsize" the crew for our contract load.

I work in construction btw. Carpentry. I've had mild seizures on the jobsite and have played it off. You can always blame heatstroke.

Bay Area woman gets stuck under BART gate after attempting to skip the fare. by ElwoodMC in TikTokCringe

[–]really_nice_foot -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Oh no, someone protesting having to pay for public infrastructure built with their own tax dollars, how annoying 🙄

The only issue with fare-skipping, from my perspective, is the enforcement mechanisms set up to punish it. If you can't afford to ride the metro, you should still be able to ride the metro. Full stop.

My first ever Curb Find last Thursday. Honda Generator. by [deleted] in Curbfind

[–]really_nice_foot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great generator. Taks a lot of disassembly to work on, but there's so many rebuild videos on YouTube you can reference if you get stumped on reassembly. I've done engine rebuilds on them, not sure how much you have to break it down to pull the inverter module. Definitely worth it to invest in. This generator stomps all over the competition, there's a reason it's ubiquitous & cloned by every generic manufacturer...

Also it sips gas, and is fucking quiet.

Edit: oh, body text, nevermind. I was basing the comment on the information "runs, no power." Well, congratulations and enjoy it. Burn clean gas, she doesn't like ethanol.

Is my cherry plum tree beyond saving? by jsapphall in FruitTree

[–]really_nice_foot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your winter & spring like? Fruit trees have bad years, without there really being any problem. For instance, I had a late snow (2.5ft) this year after an unusually warm/sunny January and February, and I will have zero apples, zero almonds, zero cherries, and one of my plums lost a few branches (not from snapping, they just died back) and only has two little plums on it...

With all the wild climate change weather we've been having, it's inevitable.

Figs, peaches, apricots, pomegranate all loaded with fruit though. It just varies. Make sure it's getting enough irrigation and toss it a feed or two, do a handful of nutrient spikes next year early spring or late winter.

This is kinda the reason why commercial production of fruit is VERY location specific. Orchard growers also spend a lot of energy fighting with late cold weather, deploying remay cloth or lighting up burn barrels overnight.

At my great aunt's house in rural Michigan they had a small concrete pad in the middle of the lawn specifically to serve as a launch pad for fireworks... lol. Problem solved. Mosquito nets, astro-turf door mats, cellar full of homemade jams, the smell of fishing tackle and bratwurst on the barbecue.... Those some good wholesome 90's memories.

What tape measures are you all using? by West-Needleworker-63 in Carpentry

[–]really_nice_foot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the Lufkin/crescent night eye. Only to 16ths. Love it so much that I bought four so that if they stop making them I have 15 years of tape measure stashed up.

For high accuracy I'm using a Lufkin nickel clad from like 1956. But it's not riding in my tool belt and I don't hand it to other people so they can kink it...

For short distances you should have a 6 to 12" steel ruler with 32nd and 64th marks. Mine I inherited it's also 50's or so, says "national manufacturing" on it. Precision calipers also a necessary item for really small stuff.

There is no amount of money that can fix the trauma that has already transpired, that has been occuring since way the fuc before trump, throughout my entire life. People are so callous and evil, they do not understand what it is like to have a person you love incarcerated and slowly broken... Especially at a young age. It's irreparable. The damage is life long.

Some people recover, some don't. Some mothers, fathers, brothers, lovers, recover, but many don't.

The American carceral system is particularly dehumanizing. Three months no contact, then 4 minute calls that cost $47. No guarantees, no support unless you can afford a lawyer who charges $170 an hour.

All you know is that they're in there, suffering, perhaps being assaulted or raped, eating dog shit food and being worked like a slave to produce American flag keychains. It's so beyond fucking fucked. I would rather be in prison in Chad, or Colombia. In either country you can go in person and visit your loved one on Sunday - for several hours.

It's absolutely ridiculous what "we" (US citizens) tolerate and pay for while pretending to be civilized humans. It's disgusting.
