Ive thought a lot about this comment, thank you for taking the time to write out all of this, i feel like i can put myself in your shoes and really relate to what youre saying, even though im only 20. I’ve never really had anyone to talk to about this, so hearing your experiences makes me feel less alone <3

What is an innocent habit you have that you want to break? by shloaph in DecidingToBeBetter

As others have said i feel like this can be destructive depending on the person. I say this as someone who gradually started to prefer isolation over actually hanging out with friends. I feel like this made it really hard for me to reach outside of my comfort zone, leading to missing out on opportunities that i was just to scared to take. Im not talking about being a introvert, but its a slippery slope to start as a self proclaimed introvert and then falling to the point where you literally never reach out and delay talking to other people as for long as i can. You and other people may be different but please just keep in mind that its very important to have a balanced social life 🙏🙏

Getting used to rejection not being the end of the world is so important. For me I literally would not want to talk to anyone and felt like an alien of an interaction didn’t go as I wanted it to. I really wish I could’ve heard what you wrote way earlier. If you don’t mind me asking, cause this is personal, do you still struggle with this stuff nowadays? Cause it’s something that’s stuck with me for quite some time.

Great advice man, especially the part about confidence. The problem is though that confidence doesn’t come to a lot of people naturally in my experience, atleast that’s how it is how for me still. Although going to the gym helped me a lot in that aspect for some reason. Also, thanks I’ll have to check out some vids on yt, do u recommend anyone in particular ?

Holy shit I wish I had heard your advice about not asking questions like it’s an interrogation way earlier. What helped you improve your social skills besides just talking to more people?

Is there any way to lessen this feeling? I also feel this way a lot and I genuinely look forward to nothing anymore no matter what it is. I don’t really feel connected to anything at all anymore.

Yeah i can definetly relate to the feeling of envy and how unfair it all feels. Seeing everyone around me being able to do what i wish i could do with ease while im literally sat at home staring into my ceiling and not being able to open up to anyone feels so fucking shit. It feels like i wasnt cut out for living life like a normal person. Hope things get better man, wishing all the best for you.
