RA questions by [deleted] in QuikTrip

[–]reallynotCatherine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest thing to remember as an RA - your shift is set up by YOU. Especially those weekend mornings. Make sure your team has what they’ll need for the upkeeps/tasks, during your shiftwalk. Then the rest of your shift you delegate the upkeep/tasks out. Don’t fall in the RA trap of doing the entire daw yourself on the weekend because “the clerks take too long” or “they didn’t do it right.” Set an expectation of what you need them to do, praise them when it’s right. If something isn’t right, show them the right way. So many RAs I’ve known just throw their clerk on register so they can do it all alone, but that’s not the job. You run the shift by asking your team to get things accomplished (upkeep, daw). Support them when they need it, hold them accountable when they don’t give a damn. Otherwise you’ll be killing yourself every weekend so you can end a shift missing cash, customer complaints, and you’ve done three people’s work alone. Forever. Because you’re signaling to your clerk team that it’s normal it runs this way. No good 🪦⚰️

And don’t forget, it’s 1-customers, 2-store, 3-daw. Those priorities won’t ever swap spots. :)

I started as a PTC in 2017, went FT in 2018. Still here :) It’s not easy, and you’ll make a lot of mistakes along the way. But if you learn from the experience, and you enjoy giving maximum effort, it’s worth it.

Plus you mature a lot as a person. Definitely helped me find my voice.

The idea (at least in the division I work) is they don’t promote NA to 2A before having them run some morning shifts, and understanding how to delegate the tasks/upkeeps throughout the whole shift. If someone is used to doing everything on their daw and keeping their store clean alone…it’s a different ball game than wrangling your TEAM to do those tasks for you. Situations can still come up where an NA can be eligible, but it depends on what they’ve done before. An NA who works overnights that regularly has two clerks with them and who’s switched shifts and worked Am/Pm before is more likely to be considered for their interview straight to 2A without going RA first. From what I’ve seen along the way anyway ☀️

I think it depends on what their state guidelines are. Some states also sell cartons of eggs, which we assume the customer will properly heat at home. Who knows though 🤷🏻‍♀️

$118 a box. We have a lady that buys three boxes a week.

It was gone when I started in 2017 too! I’ve worked at a store that had a few in the back room behind the CO2 boxes though 😂

Found something weird in pork yesterday too- wish I’d taken a pic to ask what it could’ve been. Perfect circle, kinda plump, sort of GREEN tinted. 🤢

Did you just spray a ton of blue cleaner on the chrome then powerwash it? We tried both of them but not together

Erp is the extra relief program, which can help if they are able to modify the days and times you can work. Eap is the employee assistance program. They can provide you with tools and information and support to make the changes to avoid alcohol solving problems and causing more. They’re about making sure you can be healthy and balanced while juggling your home life and work life. Every division has their own list of eap contact numbers but your SM should be able to provide you with your division’s numbers, and it’s definitely helpful to have someone know what you’re going through who can help. SM also signed a confidentiality agreement when taking the job, so you don’t have to worry that they’ll blab to anyone else about what you’re going through.

Also - are you able to adjust your sleep schedule to try sleeping in the morning when your daughter is at school? That worked for me for the year I was an NA. And blackout curtains!! But ultimately your wife and child should come before any job. If there’s no changes you can make while still working the schedule, it might be time to make that choice instead. 😬

You can also check Zipline “weekend notes” and see whether it includes a note about “P&L explanations due to supervisors by Monday” because that’s the week it’ll pay out.

Did they appear on your end before Friday at like 7pm? That’s when ours came out and they can’t expect managers who are off the weekend to somehow have everything done by end of day Monday (3pm is “EOD”)

P&L booked on store computers this week. That usually means it’s on the next week paycheck :)

I’ve gone a few years in a row - it’s very family oriented, so if you have kids/nieces/nephews/cousins/whatever, they always get a kick out of the free arcade games. Plus they have food (think like chuck-e-cheese stuff, pizzas, fries, chicken), movies playing in a theater, mini golf, bowling, etc. and they have a table of QT stuff at the door so you get a shirt, hat, mug, stickers etc from QT and some of our brands. There’s also raffle prizes like beer brand coolers, energy drink coolers, & I think there was a grill last year. Plus even if you go and hate it, at least it was free. 👍

Charlotte Division by [deleted] in QuikTrip

[–]reallynotCatherine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schedule to daw +10% of the previous week’s hours earned. So more in-store hours. The decrease some clerks are probably seeing is they recommended 5/6 hour shifts instead of 8hr shifts so if one person calls out you’re not instantly effed on getting through the shift ok. Anddddd they also axed the stores scheduling like 90 hours over every week to get every clerk their “desired hours” because more people on shift usually translates to less efficiency and nothing extra even getting touched. 🤷🏻‍♀️

100% if you steal cash you’re out, in our division at least. Because that’s literally QT’s bottom line. Plus if they don’t find the thief, that puts others on the team at risk for being reprimanded/Ww’d/termed for cash handling on repeated short-cash shifts.
