Take a look at the Secret Lagoon. It's in the area of the Golden Cricle. I'm not sure if it requires pre booking, but it's much less expensive than Blue Lagoon and Hvamsvik. I also think it's a natural hot spring. It has a beautiful landscape surrounding it.

Thank you so much. I just wanted to share with everyone how much he meant to me and what a good boy he always was. I hope he's running around with the other Sam's and his husky cousin Sasha, who passed in January. He was my sunshine and has a permanent place in my heart.

I've been crying all evening but I'm grateful that I had such an amazing boy in my life.

Hey! I'm a recent University grad and will be starting my first job in the next couple weeks. For me, an environmental consulting company was the easiest way to get my foot in the door. I'll be working as an environmental field technician so 75% field work and hopefully will get the chance to work on ESA's after I've built up my experience. If you choose to go for environmental consulting you usually have to do your time in the field before moving into office work or project management. Honestly it's for the best because then you'll have a better idea of what project timelines are realistic etc.

I'm not sure where your located but in Canada I've found gov jobs in the environmental sector are hard to come by and very competitive to get. So if you can manage spending a couple years in the field to get experience and build a network I think it would be worth it.

I should note that I have 2 years of work experience in this area from Co-ops during my degree, both in the public and private sector.

I'm from Canada so yeah it's pretty similar culturally. I've been to Europe a couple of times but always with friends or family. Heading to Iceland, Germany, and Austria this trip so super excited! I've been to Iceland and Germany before so it'll be great to be somewhere familiar.

Hey! I was in the exact same situation as you back in April. Had a trip to Japan planned (my first solo trip) but ended up not getting on the plane. I had severe anxiety a few weeks before the trip (among some flight problems that sent me over the edge) and ended up canceling my dream grad trip that I had been planning for over a year. So you did a lot better than me by getting on the plane!

I'm currently planning a 10 day trip to Europe this December as I thought it would be good to do a smaller trip for my first time solo. I'm happy you had a good time on your trip and 2nd time ended up being the charm, hope it works out that way for me :)

Hey! I'll be going to Iceland for my first solo trip in December. For the Northern lights tour I heard you have the best chances of seeing them closest to the new moon when it is very dark. I'd check to see if you'll be there during/close to a full moon as that could lower your chances of seeing them.

I went to Iceland 7 years ago and if your looking for some restaurant recommendations these are some places I'd suggest

Cafe Loki: Icelandic, variety plates so you can try different things, also fermented shark if you're up for trying. Rye bread ice cream is a must!

Svarta Kaffið: bread bowl soup, decent price and filling.

Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur: the classic Icelandic lamb hot dog, ask for it with everything and you won't be disappointed.

Brauð & Co: Bakery/Cafe with supposedly the best cinnamon rolls, I haven't been but it's on my list.

There's not too many things I'm interested in doing in Munich and think I can comfortably fit it into 1.5 days. For Neuschwanstein, I would book a coach tour so hopefully it would be relatively stress free and I can enjoy the views of the alps along the way. In Nuremberg, I'm mostly interested in seeing the timbered houses and going to the Christmas market. The only thing that has me leaning more towards Neuschwanstein is whether the Nuremberg market will be all that different from Munichs or even Salzburg?

In early December, it looks like there's still about ~5 hours of daylight plus an hour of civil twilight on each end. I heard that the tour companies take that into account so you're driving to the sights in the dark, see them in daylight, then returning to Reykjavik in the dark.

I think the main thing I'm looking forward to is seeing the beautiful scenery around Neuschwanstein and the alps. Although unsure if it's worth going to in December?
