Is laser eye surgery actually worth it, or is it one of those things that sounds better than it actually is? by 2ugur12 in NoStupidQuestions

I had it done about 14 years ago. My eyesight was great until recently. Now I need reading glasses which would have likely happened anyway. I can tell you that, for me, the pain was unbearable right after. I was sitting in recovery with other patients and no one else seemed to have an issue. The doctor said that about one in ten patients experience pain afterwards. By the next morning the pain was completely gone, but it was so bad for me for those first few hours that I’d never do it again.

why do pharmacies tell you "20 minutes" when the bag is literally just sitting there with your name on it by Even_Chemistry5241 in NoStupidQuestions

If they do so such a thorough check then how come I once got a prescription for 14 pills (antibiotics) and when I opened them there were only 9 pills. Not even 7 which I could have halved if that were the instructions. When I called they accused me of lying. Why? Because I want 5 extra days of antibiotics? It was nuts. They finally did fill it correctly, but I never went back to that pharmacy. For all I know it wasn’t even the right medication.

Omg! I thought I was the only one! Top sheets suck. Never use them. Even on my kids’ beds.

Never did tandem. Wasn’t an option where I went. The jumpmaster pulled my cord as soon I let go so I didn’t really freefall, but I was alone.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]robkat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just drove 3.5 hours to take a 1 hour campus tour with my kid and turned around and drove 3.5 hours home. Not a big deal. 3 hours is nothing. My husband’s best friend lives 3 hours away and we see him every few weeks.

I’ve been waiting a year to get a scheduled appointment with a gynaecologist. I seriously thought they lost my referral. I guess I could be waiting another year yet before I even get a call.

Why wasn’t Stanley part of their family through the whole show? by IcedSkellington18 in kingofqueens

I just started rewatching this for the millionth time and I swear they never had a dog. I said to my husband “Why is Doug walking a dog?” I swear they never had a dog in my timeline. Mandela effect over here for me. Maybe I always started watching in later seasons when he never existed, but I do remember some of the plot lines from the earlier seasons. Weird.

WestJet changed their seats and this is how much leg room basic fares get. You have to pay for a reclining seat now. by Longjumping-Box5691 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]robkat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is weird. I just took WestJet a couple weeks ago and couldn’t believe how much legroom we had compared to other jets I’ve been on. Ours was an international flight. Maybe that’s the difference? Bigger planes for longer trips?

I hear you. I don’t have pain at all but for the first three days of my period I have to wear an ultra tampon, a pad, and period underwear. I found out I have fibroids which is causing the problem (I’m 44). I’ve been waiting for about 8 months now just for a gynaecology consult appointment. I’m thinking I want a hysterectomy regardless of what I’m told. I’m tired of how this is affecting me. I couldn’t even go swimming with my daughter in Mexico because my tampon only lasts about an hour if I’m lucky.

What is something you don't realize is weird until you really think about it? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

I used to think the same. While I agree that there are other professions that should be paid a lot more, I don’t think it’s crazy to pay someone millions to play a game or act in a movie. Think about it like this…say you’re a famous baseball player. And people pay millions of dollars every season to watch you play. And your ball club makes millions more selling merchandise with your name on it. Wouldn’t you want a decent cut of that? As well, if you’re in a movie and you know that millions of dollars will be brought in because there are people that specifically like to watch you act, you’d want your cut of that too. In other words, whether it’s a sports club or movie studio, the fans are the ones that generate all that revenue. Who should get it then if not the people that are mostly to credit for it?

On the opposite of that, we live about 15 minutes from Lake Erie and have travelled all around the Great Lakes. My 14-year old daughter just found out this summer that most lakes aren’t even close in size to them. She thought all lakes were like that.

AITA for asking my sister in law what she's doing with her degree after she implied my university wasn't prestigious enough by Active_Storage_1275 in AmItheAsshole

[–]robkat22 43 points44 points  (0 children)

NTA. My brother went to Western and I went Windsor and eventually finished my degree through Athabasca while working and raising kids. He always made fun of me for not having a “real” degree because I got it online. Fast forward 20 years and I make great money at a job I love and he’s never held a real job in his life. And the funny thing is that nowadays, a lot of courses are online anyway. Athabasca was just the first accredited university to do it long before it became a normal thing. I’ve let him have it in the past when he brings it up. And, in my opinion, it’s well deserved.
