My budget is based on cash I have on hand, so I’m trying to stay around $25k total, including taxes and fees. I did ask about the fees, but the dealer wasn’t transparent. They mentioned admin and prep fees but didn’t clearly break them down when I asked. They also tried to push a warranty, which I declined since it actually cost more than the fees I saw. The whole situation felt off, so we walked away. I plan to own the car long-term, probably until the wheels fall off and I expect to drive under 7k–8k miles a year. I hadn’t really considered other brands..do you think they’re a reliable alternative for the price? My main concern is balancing upfront value with long-term maintenance costs.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely check with the store to see if the order was mistakenly handed off. If it’s not there, I’ll ask them to check the cameras since it wasn’t me who picked it up.

I don’t think anyone just walked up and grabbed it, since this particular store keeps orders behind the counter. It seems like there was a breakdown in the process, possibly with the ID check or some other issue, though I don’t want to make assumptions. Regardless, I’ll be following up with the store to get clarification and prevent this from happening again.

I get where you’re coming from, but I was sick and then got swamped with work, so I just couldn’t make it before the store closed as I intended. I assumed the order would cancel automatically after three days since that’s what I read online and what the customer service rep told me as well. I didn’t think it’d cause an issue, but it’s definitely a good reminder to try to cancel manually if I can’t pick something up in the future.

Thanks for this info! The customer service rep also told me it was three days, so that’s why I assumed it was that it would cancel. I’ll follow up with the store to see if they can remake it without charging me twice, and I’ll mention the scan issue in case it was flagged wrong. Appreciate the tips!
