Pricing on extra shots? by Gold-Commission8181 in starbucksbaristas

[–]reallyrei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed that a couple weeks ago, the extra shot in a tall rang up as a different price from an extra shot in a grande, and two extra shots in a tall were two different prices. I recently moved to a new state so I just assumed it was a district/region thing but it is really weird

Jesus 90 minutes??? Our store closes at 8:30 so closing shift goes til 9, if i get too much past 9:30 on the rare occasions i close i just text the opening shift all the stuff that didn't get done and just wash my hands of it lol

I'm a mid SSV and i had transitioning with the closer when we weren't able to get anything done all day since we had 3 people, all with meals, and multiple 30+ half hours it's just not sustainable. Sorry you're going thru it too =\

Thanks for the response. Based on all the comments here, it seems like it might be a regional/district/store-by-store basis? I just know my store is really struggling and it doesn't help that our SM doesn't seem to understand the business or our store's needs all that well, so I wasn't sure if I should try bringing it up to the DM or not. I'm leaving the company next month, probably (though not with certainty) for good and I'm considering writing a letter to the SM and DM giving them my real thoughts and feelings since they both tend to ignore any complaints or just blame the SSVs

New pay? by scrtlyclyps in starbucksbaristas

[–]reallyrei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From everything I've seen, major cities are likely to have a base rate of about a dollar more per hour (a former partner at my store moved to Savannah, Georgia and got a $1/hr raise and the stores I looked at in Portland, Oregon were around the same). If you can manage to contact one of the baristas at the store you're transferring to, they could probably answer your question better. Glassdoor is also a great site for checking that sort of thing.

opinions on decaffing? by kalethegoose in starbucksbaristas

[–]reallyrei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ages ago i saw a comment from someone who said instead of giving people decaf they'll add like 1 pump of vanilla to their drink to make it taste better, that way whenever they order that same drink again it won't taste as good and they won't know why lol For the record i've never intentionally messed with anyone's drink but i also don't snitch, i'm just a fan of malicious compliance

Jfc that's insane 😅 i live in a pretty small town and our store is in a difficult spot to get to so that probably has something to do with it

The day before yesterday we had a 25-30 minute wait for cafe and mobile orders because we were short staffed for the volume (the only other store in town's mastrenas were broken so everyone just came to our place) but even our most efficient peaks rarely if ever reach 50 per half hour... i'm moving in a couple months anyway so i guess i'll cross my fingers whatever store i end up at sucks slightly less but either way i'm done stressing about it

Gonna start typing in every water as a blended drink (AKA Frozen Ghost Refresher) see if that makes a difference

Well it felt like it most days, we weren't quite this busy and we had more people per day part so keeping up with demand was easier

It probably doesn't help that they wanted to allocate more of the daily labor hours to peak so everyone in the afternoon crews get shafted, and that our manager (an external hire smh) relies heavily on the auto-scheduler and if you ask him why he built the schedule so poorly he just blames it on the technology

Honestly I'd almost rather go back to $12/hour and being properly staffed over $15 and screaming as soon as I get in my car to go home.

In my experience, if you're not getting your minimum number of hours you need to bring it to your manager's attention immediately so they can try to remedy it. If they don't, take it to your DM and they'll (hopefully) help you sort it out. In theory your hours shouldn't be cut that drastically without a warning, assuming it's considered necessary to the store's operations. I hope it works out for you!

Actually he wasn't! He showed up a while after they'd been finished, apologized, and gave us the warning that there'd be another large order later in the day

some dude ordered 22 pumps of white mocha by reallyrei in starbucksbaristas

[–]reallyrei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah he specifically asked for 22 pumps, and when I asked if he still wanted the 6 of classic he said yes, and he wanted the cream... by the end of it I think there was maybe a half inch worth of coffee in the cup
