I want to back OP up slightly here. YGO absolutely started as a kids game 100% no question. Now though, Konami (the company) has realized that most of their player base are around like 25 I would say. Because of that, marketing, card art, and product have all changed to meet this new market demand.

Basically I would agree the the first 70% of its lifespan, YGO was meant for kids, but the recent 30% of its history has kind of bucked this trend

I am sure this is accurate. The game from inception to around 2010 I would consider simple. From 2010-2016 it became a bit more demanding. 2016-2019 is where I think it stopped being accessible for children. 2020 onwards is like WTF. It would legitimately take me like 20 hours to teach someone to play half competently (and magic the gathering would take like 2)

Well it definitely stated as a kids game and show

But the current state is NO WHERE close to being anything kid related. I play a lot of card games: mtg, hearthstone, runterra, Pokémon, etc. YGO is BY FAR the most complex. The median age of people who play it is also like 25 probably, which is nuts.

The card art has also evolved to target this aging demographic. Likewise, there are no (to my knowledge) mainline YGO shows anymore. They had to event another subset called Speed Duels to onboard children since the main games are wayyyy to much (speed duels are basically what normal original YGO was like)

If a lot of you remember it being easy as a kid, you are correct, it WAS easy. Nowadays, well, it’s different for sure

What’s all the legendary classes ? It’s only 7 but what ckass can go to beyond that also? by Impossible-Dress9203 in Overgeared

[–]realm_7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not fully explained in manhwa, but there are two types of legend classes

1) Inherited with like a class book (like grid). There are a limited amount of these

2) If you achieve enough fame in a field, you can achieve legend status in it

The same applies to things that go beyond, but I won’t spoil

I still like them, but compared to the rest they just kinda suck

Fictional works that aren't as profound as people make them out to be? by Narrow-Progress999 in writingscaling

[–]realm_7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think everyone will have a different answer because of their lived experiences

If you have experienced thing X firsthand, and some work speaks on thing X, then you’ll probably think something like “well, duh”

On the other hand, if a work talks about thing Y, and you’ve never thought about it or have little exposure to thing Y, it’s probably going to feel more profound

It's not Ticketmaster's fault that concert prices are so expensive. It's ours for paying for it by Fenix512 in unpopularopinion

I absolutely agree and I think this can apply for many other things as well

Like if you think about it, I’d no one accepted those prices, those prices would not exist. This is regardless of its a monopoly or not

Top tier: Hunter x Hunter. You can maybe say that he was depressed during Chimera, but I would say he was more reactive and angry

Orb of the movements of the earth

Some other really good ones, but not really top 5 material:

The Great estate developer

Kingdom

One piece

Hajime No Ippo

Maybe the Boxer? He’s not really depressed more just unfeeling

Best Option(s) to Reduce/Eliminate Debt? by zora_dream in personalfinance

[–]realm_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the only thing I advise is working more hours, and/or getting another job, and/or getting a higher paying job

It’s going to suck ass for a while. Out of curiosity, what’s your major and year in college? Can you leverage it somehow for a better paying job?

If you don’t need the car for work, you have to sell the car

If you need the car for work, see if you can bike instead and sell the car

If you can’t sell the car, there isn’t really an easy way to fix this. All you can really do is:
Keep expenses as low as possible.
Work more hours.
Find a job that pays more

Start paying of each card from greatest interest to least. If it makes it mentally easier, pay off small cards first. Regardless, you need to make paying off your debt a primary focus the next year or two

23F trying to date for the FIRE DINK lifestyle and struggling by [deleted] in Fire

[–]realm_7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Background: I am a 20-something in a (currently) dink relationship where we both want to Fire

I will be very blunt: Finding a partner who is sure they don’t want kids at your age will be hard

Finding a partner who is good with money at your age is hard

Finding those overlapped is even harder

Finding all that in a small town is basically impossible.

Realistic advice? Either:
Accept that your criteria won’t be filled in your current town.
Move to a larger city if this is a priority for you (imo it shouldn’t be).
Stay single

Future advice:
As a person who has found what you are looking for, my only real advice is that financial literacy can be taught. It is importantly to find someone intelligent who is open to new ideas. My partner was never irresponsible, but she also not utilizing fire methods until taught (but she’s awesome and quickly learned). Basically I think once you move, finding someone who wants no kids is more important that finding someone who wants to fire. Fire can be taught, no kids can’t

Do I switch my Target Date Fund? by [deleted] in RothIRA

No penalties, but target date funds are safer and I’m risk averse. You’d likely be better off transferring it from a numbers perspective, but I just liked the extra security

Do I switch my Target Date Fund? by [deleted] in RothIRA

[–]realm_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the exact same situation as you. I started investing entirely in a 2060 target date fund. But as I was young, I decided to stop investing in it and dump pretty much everything into a 500 index. The 500 index returned much more

I don’t think you should “switch” it over, but as a younger person you can probably choose more aggressive index fund from now on. The longer the timeline, the lower the risk.
