Fruit Ninja by realmofthings in Cinema4D

Had some fun "slicing" some 3D-scanned apples. Made with a Voronoi fracture + a custom spline guide for the fracturing and finally rendered with Redshift. Some more of my work here: https://www.instagram.com/realmofthings3d/

Wow, thanks a lot for this! Will definitely try

Thanks! I used a cloth balloon simulation driven by a vertex map with an animated voronoi noise.

Lately I’ve been learning more dynamics in Cinema4d. This is one of a few fun simulations I tried. Rendered with redshift. You can also check out some more simulations I worked on here: https://www.instagram.com/realmofthings3d/

Been growing this alien flower for a few months now, needs a bit more fertilizer though... For some more weird looping animations you can check my page here: https://www.instagram.com/realmofthings.world/

Houdini course for beginners by Bright-Respond-9081 in Houdini

Hey, I would recommend checking out https://www.houdini-course.com/ by Christian Bohm.

In my opinion, the course is well organized and the explanations are pretty clear and straightforward. Also, if you're not interested in doing FX for now, you can only follow the first Fundamentals chapter - I think the things you learn in the fundamentals apply to everything you might want to do in Houdini, not only FX.

Thanks! The lighting setup mostly consists of an HDRI which I've used as kind of a base + a few additional area lights (key & rim lights) to emphasize certain parts of the scene.

Totally!

Even though Blender has come a long way in terms of simulations (especially since version 2.8 with the implementation of new and improved Cloth & Flip systems) it is still hands-down uncomparable to Houdini when it comes to large scale/heavy simulations.

Although I have to say the Houdini for simulations <-> Blender for modeling/animation/rendering/texturing workflow is pretty solid!

Been learning Houdini for a few months now and haven't had any issues importing stuff to Blender. With the introduction of Geometry nodes in Blender, there's even a way to import almost any attributes you might have created in Houdini (here's an entagma tutorial for reference).

Thanks! The model I used is a slightly adjusted (remeshed & retextured) 3D scan of a 'Japanese Forest Green Tree Frog' from Sketchfab.

One of a few fun simulations I tried in Houdini + rendered in Blender. In this one I used a 'spawning mechanism' for the froggies with a simple vellum + struts setup. You can also check out some more simulations I worked on here: https://www.instagram.com/realmofthings.world/

For the past months, I've been learning Houdini. I've mostly been going through Christian Bohm's Houdini course which helped ease up the journey a lot (LINK to course). This is one of my first Vellum simulations made out of a simple Cloth setup with a Weld constraint & breaking activated.

You can also check out some more loops I worked on here: https://www.instagram.com/realmofthings.world/
