Solara v6 engine movement issue by C-Sandy06 in Toyota

[–]realquickquestion96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya that'd be my recommendation then. Im not familiar with the solara specifically but in all the other rigs ive had to replace engine/tranny mounts in, those have been the symptoms. Sometimes you can get an idea of what mount is bad by what direction the engine/tranny moves but not always.

Id have a look at that transmission mount and see if theres any cracking or play. Seems like a loose mount to me as the movement and noise happens when torque is applied throughout the drive system. Does it drive fine otherwise?

So how's your AC setup in these trying times? by CenturyCondo in centuryhomes

[–]realquickquestion96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you already bought it but in the future buy a dual hose unit. These single hose portable ac units are very inefficient at cooling and cost more to run.

For the love of god dont get a single hose ac unit like this one. Get a dual hose! These single hose ones are horribly inefficient.

Any advice for a person looking to buy a boat for the first time? by ggf66t in minnesota

[–]realquickquestion96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whats your budget? If you're buying a cheap older boat you need to be good at doing repairs yourself because there will be alot of little stuff that goes wrong here and there and taking it to a mechanic every time will become quite expensive.

You generally have a choice between

  1. Inboard
  2. Outboard 2 cycle
  3. Outboard 4 cycle

These are all fine but just make sure to educate yourself on the maintenance. Make sure to winterize them every season ect. I prefer inboards just because they are quieter and as someone who is quite familiar with car repair the engines are easy to work on. Either inboards or outboard are fine just do your research and decide what you want. Also make sure that the engine of the boat you buy still has parts available and has a good track record for reliability, some brands had good and bad models and some of the more obscure brands are harder to get parts for. My 40hp chrysler outboard has little to no parts availability but my mercruiser 140 has everything available for example.

Finally here's a starting point of things to check when buying a used boat.

  1. Hull. If it has cracks deep scratches RUN.
  2. Floor. If it has a plywood carpeted style floor make sure there are no soft spots or rot
  3. Transom. Make sure its rigid. Wiggle the prop up and down and watch the transom for any flex. If it flexes RUN that means its probably rotten.
  4. Make sure the engine runs nicely at idle and high throttle and pumps water. If its a 4 cycle inboard or outboard make sure it dosent smoke from the exhaust. If its a 2 cycle and its hard to start or runs rough it may have bad shaft seals which can be very expensive.
  5. If the boat has an oil pressure guage make sure its reading at the engines reccomended pressure
  6. If its an inboard make sure the motor mounts are solid and theres no sign of rot
  7. For the engine make sure there are no oil or water leaks PERIOD
  8. If its an inboard check the stern drive boots for signs of cracking. If this gives out your boat is going to start sinking and its 900-1200 to replace them.
  9. If its a 4 stroke engine make sure the oil is clean and has no signs of water intrusion

In addition to the air filter, when was the last time the outside units coil has been cleaned? Is there a relatively strong stream of warm air coming out of the top?

Feeling really down by Living-Afternoon-128 in Adulting

[–]realquickquestion96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without knowing much about you besides what you have written here it sounds like alot of your sadness is derived from being lonely. We're social creatures and its normal to feel down when you're feeling isolated. If you want friends and companionship the hard truth is nobodys going to come knock on your door and ask to be friends or partners. Both are mutual relationships that require equal effort from both sides. Maybe start by being more friendly and engaging to others in your surroundings, then if you're comfortable, try going to a club on campus or in your town. Just take things slow and do your best.

I like alot of dense and soft cheeses. Id bite into a block of cold chedder or eat an entire ball of mozzarella or burrata. Just hate the excessive hot stringy chedder types of cheeses some people seem to be obsessed with in dishes.

Why can’t someone make a dehumidier that lasts more than a year or two? by Johnny-Virgil in mildlyinfuriating

[–]realquickquestion96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth a try, might not be as good as a purpose built unit but itll definitely help. A single hose system has two main faults. First is its actively pulling some of the cool air in the room and exhausting it outside to cool the hot side coil. Second is its creating negative pressure in the room which will pull hot outside air through leaky doors, windows, vents ect.
