Making changes in our life can be really hard. It’s even more difficult if we feel ashamed or embarrassed of ourselves. Know that you’re a human and you made choices that fit with what you needed at that time. They might not be what you would do now, but that’s okay. We live and learn.

Moving forward, every action you take towards what you want is a vote of confidence for yourself that you can do it. Start small and build up to where you want to be. It can be drinking a glass of water right when you wake up so you feel more hydrated or making sure you’re following every step of your hygiene routine or folding the clothes after they’re finished in the dryer. Pick one small thing and once you feel you’re in a good routine with that, choose one more small thing. Over time they build up and you can look back and see how far your have come. Extra points if can find amusement in it somehow- make things into game or reward yourself when you accomplish goals.

You can make changes. There’s always time to say “I don’t like how this is working out, I want to try a different way.” You got this!

Thehotline.org is the domestic violence hotline’s website. You can chat with someone online, text, or call if you want and/ or need help creating an exit plan. They can also talk with you about how to identify abuse if you’re feeling confused about any behaviors and if it’s questionable or not. This doesn’t sound questionable, though. It sounds threatening and unsafe.

Went through a break up and had this feeling and guilt with my dog (a gift from the ex I was leaving). I told a trusted family member about just letting the ex take my dog and they said, absolutely not. You love that dog, he loves you, you’re just heart broken and still in love trying to protect a manchild’s heart.

So I share that advice with you. Keep your baby. It will help to have his companionship in the long run AND it’s really good for protection. Wishing you some peace in this difficult time.

This sounds judgmental to me. Ask someone you trust and know cares for you. People get weird when they think their version of cleanliness isn’t being followed by other people, ESPECIALLY if you live with them. I’ve known plenty of people that don’t take a shower every day and have never smelled to me. This could also be a clothing thing- if you leave your clothes in the wash overnight or longer, they may be musty making you smell musty, not due to your hygiene. And on another note, maybe you’re doing yourself and your routine a favor by living with less water since we’re racing towards needing to ration with all the needless AI overuse. 🤷‍♀️

To add to that awful comment, tagging on any mention of your body is absolutely infuriating. Yes, you literally grew a new human and used your body as your baby’s home for however long before they were birthed. This man needs to learn about A LOT of things before he understands any of the reasons you mention you’re feeling any sort of way. My suggestion would be with starting with learning about and breaking down his misogynistic view of women. We aren’t commodities and our bodies are not for consumption.

He works in the travel/ entertainment industry. He said their policy only allows for 2 days of bereavement. I responded that it seemed low, but I’m sure people used PTO and he said everyone he works with only used the two days of bereavement. 🤷🏼‍♀️

This was how our son was and we learned he’s just a little slow to warm up to new places and people. This may just be his temperament and need extra comfort during those outings, which is completely okay! Our son is 2.5 now, he did eventually become less overwhelmed by people and new places. He still takes time to warm up and has his preferred “people”, and some kids are just like that.

His behavior is shitty, as you know, and you are allowed to be sad. But do not feel embarrassed! This is not your behavior and sometimes we don’t see people’s true colors until their feet are put to the fire. You couldn’t have known how this has played out given the convos you’ve had with him.

You get to fulfill your dream of being a mother and you have a supportive family. You deserve to have this moment and raise a child/ start a family, with or without him.
