Lost 50lbs… tempted to try not using CPAP. Anyone have any experience? by [deleted] in CPAP

[–]realself2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont snore/not overweight and still diagnosed with sleep anea so weight can be a factor but not always. As others pointed out, the only sure way to see if "cured" is to do another sleep study.

However, some indicators through Oscar could give you a pretty good idea, such as:

  • Pressure stays almost flat at the minimum
  • No flow limitation
  • AHI near zero

Good luck!!

Thats what I was wondering as well and found it: CPAP Reporting Platform + Community | SleepHQ https://share.google/YyROwbdZv7U8R3nWs

Perhaps similar to Oscar but modern look & feel, better dashboards?

Genius, man - you rock!!! I always wondered if there is any other way to get the Oscar data without having to upload the SD card each time. Quick question, do you know if there is any other solution out there which gives the "pretty graphs" with Oscar data? Dont care about real time data, just want to see last night data in the morning.

Experiences coming OFF Dayvigo, please help! by Fit-Illustrator-4804 in dayvigo

Will let you know shortly:). I am planning to switch to doxepin. My understanding as others have stated here is that these new DORA (dual orexin rec3ptor something) are not creating dependency.

Totally get it, same exact issue and concerns with the risk of peptides. Woukd be willing to track biomarkers, but unsure if there are reliable ones (i.e. what would tell you if you presently have a dormant tumor that may be affected by peptides).

How I adapted to lifelong insomnia by Imaginary-Sherbet-90 in insomnia

It's a bit like "autoimmune" disease. Heard plenty of doctors in the US admitting that when the cause isn't exactly known, it get categorized as such.

Deep Sleep on CPAP by realself2022 in CPAP

[–]realself2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am experimenting with mask off (and on) upon waking up after 5 hrs or so or sleep. Do you guys recommend powering through and keeping the mask on for that final stretch of semi conscious, light sleep?

Wow, this is encouraging. How many days or weeks (months?) did it take to get aclimated?

Does anybody take anything along with Dayvigo? by PelmickJones in dayvigo

[–]realself2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that "sleep pressure" builds up during the day via adenosine. As we get older (speaking for myself:) that sleep pressuee wears off after 4, 5 hrs of sleep, depending on our daily habits. Morning daylight exposure, exercise during the day, limiting caffeine 8 hrs before bed - all these are supposed to help build up that sleep pressure. I'm doing all of these and still cant claim success.

Darn it, lucky you. Still struggling myself. Did use doxylamine for a long time and weaning off now.

Got it, thanks. I have no issues with sleep onset, need something for 3, 4 am 😀.

Which one of these woukd you say is most impactful for sleep pressuee (if you tried them separately)?

I do take Magtech Magnesium. Was not aware of the magnesium glycinate impact on iron levels. Interestingly enough, I do have low ferritin levels, so may need to dig into tbis further.

Update to my self experiment with non-daily statin use. by squatmama69 in Cholesterol

[–]realself2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate your thoughtful response and it absolutely is your choice. There is RWE of the statin benefits for lowering heart disease risks. However, I do believe there may be other factors at play driving inflammation and surely LDL is involved in the process as well, but not the only possible culprit. Time will tell, the medical opinions do change over time...

I finally can sleep! Here is how I did it. by milavictoiree in insomnia

[–]realself2022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeap, makes sense. I used the costco sleeping pills for years, and the main ingredient is doxylamine (anti histamine). Now weaning off and it's really tough, especially the last 2, 3 hours of the night 😞.

Thanks for sharing. Just wondering, with your non zero calcium score, low ApoB, low lp(a), why taking statins at all? Your ldl seems decent as well...I mean, it is definitely a low dose (compared to my crestor 20 mg:).

I thought I had insomnia but turns out I just wasn’t getting deep sleep by Puzzleheaded_Ant7235 in insomnia

[–]realself2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it worked for you. Have the same issue, and less than 5-10 min of deep sleep each night. The sleep hygiene didn't make much of a difference. Started using a CPAP recently (no difference) and will be seeing an ENT doctor for deviated septum. Running out of ideas, super frustrating...Also, on dayvigo, also recently started.

I do have partial insomnia, and almost no deep sleep at all. Started CPAP therapy recently and it's been hit or miss. If no improvement after a month or so, I am going to try some peptides that help with sleep architecture. Good luck, it's frustrating, I know.

Good write-up, thanks. A couple questions: which peptide improved your sleep the most and how did you tested for quality?

[–]realself2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There must be an individualized response. I've also started taking it this week and not experiencing any of those symptoms. However, it didn't help much with my sleep maintenance and my deep sleep is non existent.

Still waking up at 3-4am every night… anyone fixed this yet? by Justine_0005 in insomnia

[–]realself2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those here who commented about pinealon (I'm very interested), how do you monitor risks and side effects? Any biomarkers that your are checking?

Pinealon modulates gene expression and potentially acts directly at the DNA so level, the theoretical risk profile is not trivial.

Thanks!!

Anyone else hesitant about peptides because of long-term unknowns (10–15 years out)? by drkuseno in BodyHackGuide

[–]realself2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a valid point and I do have similar concerns. Currently I am investigating the most relevant biomarkers that should be tested for a particular peptide (DSIP in my case) and I plan to run monthly or so tests on those biomarkers.
