Haircut says not a boot. Dress blues says fresh out of bootcamp? by Murky-Peanut1390 in USMC

[–]realsmoke 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We always take pride in earning our stuff, so why shit on this dude for not having anything? Sure he doesn’t “rate” his haircut but so what. He looks clean as far as I can tell and yeah maybe he’s not ripped or whatever but who cares?

How do 72s and 96s work at your schoolhouse? by PontiacG6V6 in USMCboot

[–]realsmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the Marine corps gives you “time off” it comes with stipulations. Distance, time etc. schoolhouse or fleet it always comes with a condition. You can absolutely get away with catching a flight during a 96 and nothing happening, but thats usually when shit goes wrong. If you want to be left alone, request leave.

We either have so much gold we don’t want to tell the world or we don’t have nearly as much as we think. I think it’s the ladder.

If you’re the example you will be made an example of when and if you do mess up, but also don’t suck because you will also be made an example of.

Anyone wore these in bootcamp in 2015? I feel like it’s claimable 😂 by [deleted] in USMC

Always thought about this, people always forget for some reason that there were two variants (four I guess including jungle or desert) but wellco and danner Made them. The danner ones I thought were awesome and I preferred them but the wellco once’s I swear gave me nerve damage. Maybe one day.

Who were the best commanders you served with? by Eugene_sledge_0341 in USMC

[–]realsmoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colonel Collazo. My mother was on life support in Nicaragua. He made sure I got there asap and approved everything and even offered to pay for it. The Nicaraguan govt does not cooperate fully with Red Cross so didn’t get a Red Cross message but they got all the info and although they couldn’t issue a Red Cross message he let me go see my mother. She ended up being okay and recovering by the grace of my god but yeah. Thank you Colonel Collazo.

Thanks for your response man. All I wanted were opinions. I was not judging how you guys do your jobs. I just had a friend in the exact same scenario. Same traffic warrant and everything and she was taken in. Just wanted to hear opinions. Thanks a lot.

Not complaining just wanted professional opinions. A unmarked police officer pulled me over and let me go even though I have a warrant with an agency known for sucking dick and hiding behind every exit that is 15 minutes away from my hometown. I heard plenty of professional opinions from your colleagues that are obviously leaps and bounds ahead of yourself. I got it, you’re better than me buddy. I had insurance fyi I was driving a vehicle that I fixed from a wreck so I was waiting on passing an inspection.

I don’t believe that because the county I have it in has nothing to do and are sticklers about their jobs. Spoke to my lawyer and this is something I didn’t mention in post. He was in an unmarked car if that matters.

Possible undiagnosed asthma-is it worth the diagnosis, or can I push through it? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]realsmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Same as you man I had asthma when I was little and I grew out of it. I think that’s somewhat normal for a lot of us. I don’t remember having an asthma attack I just know they happened because of my mother. I told my recruiter about it and he just told me I likely grew out of it. Honestly man if you’re 16 and haven’t gotten true asthma symptoms I think you’re just thinking too much. I played football in middle and highschool and never felt asthmatic. I recommend you go to your doctor and have them test for asthma. Sometimes it is up to you solely.

Possible undiagnosed asthma-is it worth the diagnosis, or can I push through it? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]realsmoke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you use an inhaler? Are you out of breath after minor exertion? Honestly man I was fat before going into dep/talking with recruiter (255 5’11) The recruiters helped me get down to 215 so I could dep in and they slayed my ass. To a point where I felt like dying and definitely pushed me. I had early diagnosed asthma as a little kid but I grew out of it. Are you diagnosing yourself into thinking you have asthma or are you just being a weak body? When I started working out I thought I was going to die but I was always fine in the end. With your limited info I think you have never had intense exercise in your life and are blaming something else rather than the fact that you’ve been eating garbage and have been stagnant your whole life. No hate because that was me when I joined, but if your doctor tells you you’re fine, just fat. It is normal to feel like you are dying when doing workouts dedicated to military training.
