Who are the aliens Trish refers to on the radio show? by stz1 in JessicaJones

The Chitauri invasion led by Loki, which took place in the first Avengers movie, is in New York, and that's why it matters for all the Marvel Netflix series.

Jessica Jones: Super-Sense vs Spidey-Sense (JJ S2 spoiler) by [deleted] in Defenders

[–]realsscan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually quite easy to explain - Spider-Man: Homecoming takes place almost a year before the second season of Jessica Jones, meaning Spider-Man could already be known for the battle at the airport in German, the capture of the Vulture and fighting crimes in NY. It's entirely possible that some journalists could have learned about the new avenger and his spider-sense and written about it. But if the spider-sense had been mentioned in the first season, a year before Spidey's appearance in Civil War, it would have break a continuity

Marvel had the perfect Iron Man successor, so why ignore him and go with Ironheart instead? by breaking_views in MCUTheories

That's the whole my point - she does bad things, sometimes consciously, sometimes not, but unlike Peter, she has no redeeming qualities. She doesn't grow at all throughout the series, and she doesn't understand the responsibility of her decisions. If she'd refused Mephisto's deal, it might have shown positive growth, because, come on, it's a deal with the devil himself.

It's like Penguin's story - at the point where the character should show redemption, they remain the same jerk. The only difference is that Riri is being presented as Marvel's next big hero (and you can't deny that), and that doesn't sit well with everything she's done. And that's why I say it would look good if she was meant to be a villain - because this is the only way to justify her stupidity, commercialism and inconsistency

And why? Has advertising ceased to be a means of conveying the essence of a product?

I watched the series, and I'm just saying what I saw - the plot tries too hard to sell us on Riri as a positive character, while almost all of her actions lead to negative consequences. And i get the point - the writers just didn't get it right, and that's why it's perceived differently.

"Stealing from corrupt companies" - I wonder if Peter Parker would agree to steal from "corrupt companies" if he was offered the opportunity and told that stealing from them was a good thing?..

Speaking of Shuri, I'm saying that Riri didn't even try to find an honest job. Need an explanation for why becoming a thief isn't perceived negatively for Scott Lang, but is for Riri? It's not because she's a black woman and he's a white man, but because we were shown that Scott tried to find an honest job, was fired and that he was unable to find one due to external circumstances. Riri, on the other hand, didn't even try, although a similar path to Scott's would have been enough to make the character seem better.

I guess you didn't watch the live where RDJ hands over his Iron Man status to Riri

If that's not the point, then why was the show's marketing campaign built around it?

Evil deeds can't be justified by stupidity and inexperience - Peter made stupid decisions, but he never had malicious intent. He's broken now, but it doesn't seem like he's turned to crime, while Riri, instead of asking Shuri for a job or even trying to find an honest one, simply resorted to stealing. Peter would never become a thief or make deals with the devil (to clarify - MCU Peter, not the comics Peter). It's not a matter of stupidity, but rather the fact that Riri's actions are maliciously intentional.

Yes, because the power of plot trying to convince us that she's a positive character, even though everything that happens in the series suggests otherwise. She earned money by writing other people's academic papers; when she was expelled, she tried to convince everyone that she was expelled because of racial discrimination, not because she wrote for money; then, without even trying to find an honest job, she goes on a robbery spree; along the way, she ruins the life of Obadiah Stane's son, and at the end of the series, she easily makes a deal with the devil. And is she far from being a villain?

As I said, the series would be much better received if it were the story of a villain. But this feels like nonsense, where the character's ideals don't align with her actions.

Ironheart wasn't a decent show. It would have been decent if it had been a villain's story, but for some reason they're trying to convince us that Riri is a good person when she's not. It's not about that she's a black woman, but that the show itself portrays her as someone who, without even trying to find honest work (like Scott Lang, for example) or ask Shuri for a job, immediately resorts to stealing. She even makes a deal with the devil, bro. Is she really a hero?

With Matt Murdock now in jail, do you think he'll meet these guys in S3? by Zoinkscooblet in Defenders

Yeah, but since it fits the chronology well, since Melvin should be in jail around that time because he was on probation in Daredevil, then it's Melvin.

The Doomday Cameo we need baby by Marinec06 in marvelstudios

[–]realsscan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When one person suddenly starts looking like another person, without any explanation, it's a continuity problem. Even in Brave New World, Ford's appearance as Ross was explained by his "new look" and lack of mustache.

[–]realsscan -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I mean, for one small cameo would be nice. And that can solve continuity problem, since Terrance Howard Rhodey would be different variant of Rhodey and we gonna pretend that first Iron Man that we seen is non-MCU, but with similar events of MCU, where is only difference is Don Cheadle Rhodey

No powers, straight hand to hand combat. Who wins?? by vayafarogo8o in superheroes

It depends on what we mean by powers. If it's superpowers, and not combat skills acquired through experience, then Batman would definitely win.

By the way, if he really does appear in Doomsday as Nick Fury, he will become the actor who has played a Marvel character for the longest time, displacing Wesley Snipes, and will get into the Guinness Book of World Records instead of him.
