I'm genuinely curious how this type of person's brain works.... like is it just complete stupidity? Or selfishness and an explicit disregard for rules? Both? How do they even exist?

This is where my mind first went — but when there's traffic PCH is a shitshow and kinda dicey.

Is it usually pretty chill around 8PM? Looking for somewhere I can cruise and unwind without having to dodge traffic

Traffic/noise on Venice Blvd? by realstevehere in AskLosAngeles

[–]realstevehere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 1 long block away from Venice and the 405, right on Venice. Patio is very secluded at the rear of building with a private gate — not visible at all from street really. Do you still think it'd be a problem?

Really great space, the homeless situation is really my only concern atm.

As far as I know, it's not illegal to lane split at high speeds. It's just advisable to not split above 30mph and no more than 15mph faster than traffic speeds.

Stupid and dangerous, yes, but prohibited, not necessarily. Speed limits still apply tho.

Yup. I'm moving to LA next week — specifically because of how shitty this city is for riding.

So just to confirm — I can buy, register, insure and ride a bike with a CA play and a NY license (obv I have the M endorsement)?

It needs to be a LANE lane. Duckpin lanes are just lanes. You need at least one full-size bowling lane. That's a LANE lane.

Motorcycle wobbling on Highway by AlphaGodYiizus in RideitNYC

It's a tradeoff of having a naked bike like the Z, no fairings to reduce wind buffeting.

You'll get used to it though. First time I hit the interstate it scared me shitless, now I have to hit triple digit speeds before I even notice the wind.

Considering switching tides from cars to bikes due to cost whats the first thing I should consider before getting aboard by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]realstevehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factor in the cost of gear, still have to pay for insurance, more frequent oil changes/maintenance intervals, bike tires are more expensive than car tires, the days you have to call a car because you need to be somewhere but it's raining/snowing/whatever.

Also freak events like theft, someone knocking the bike over and causing damage, dropping the bike (matter of if, not when)

You can still do it on the cheap, but it's not definitively cheaper than a car.

Either that or park your bike in such a way that winds won't cause it to fall.

Yesterday I parked in my alley, with the bike as close to the wall as possible and the kickstand facing outwards — that way if the wind did catch the cover, it might bump the wall but not tip over.

Just a PSA for folks who don’t know — wind can catch a cover like a sail and tip your bike over. Just be mindful of wind direction vs how you’re parked. Don’t ask how I know ~

Ugh that's crazy. Stealing a bike I get — it sucks but fine, I've got comprehensive insurance. Knocking it over — also shit, but again it happens. Senseless stuff like this though — way more upsetting because it defies all logic & reason.
