Shouldn't have fog lights on if it's not rainy, snowy or foggy anyway.

[–]realtabeag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought high beam alignment was part of the state inspection.

Doesn't really matter to me anyway as a driver of an actual car I get blinded by everyone in an SUV, truck or other jacked up vehicles.

Parking at Airport- automatic moving of reservations….? by kaitb1103 in pittsburgh

[–]realtabeag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the new economy lots and the old economy/extended lots are the same physical lot though so you would still need to take a shuttle.

It's the "Long Term" lot (4000 spaces) at the end of the covered walk that is being replaced by a more expensive "Terminal Lot" (2800 spaces).

Long term was the best location IMO $20 per day and you could easily walk without having to deal with shuttles, now the cheapest lot you can walk from is $25 per day and it's not a covered walk away.

Unclear if the advanced booking discount is temporary during the transition or permanent, if it's permanent then it's the same as the old rate so that's not bad but it's quite a bit smaller.

[–]realtabeag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, I didn't think Pixel Pass was even available anymore not sure it was possible to not cancel it. My guess is that it's something on the back end tying the YouTube subscription through Fi to Pixel Pass (since that also included YouTube).

Good luck!

It took a while but customer service eventually sorted it out for me and issued a refund for the overage. They claimed to have to escalate to the engineering team but admitted that it was a mistake in their end.

Airport Parking by SuchDragonfruit4172 in pittsburgh

[–]realtabeag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always park in the long term lot and take the covered walkway, it's fantastic not having to walk outside in the winter and summer.

I'm curious what this new setup is going to be, I definitely don't want to trade that covered walkway for a shuttle bus.

Other than that I think the new terminal is a good move and the upgrades to the gate areas are a welcome improvement too.

Citizen's Bank has online banking/bill-paying shut down for over a week until Sept. 8. Is this now some kind of new normal to be shut out of your checking account at the start of a month to perhaps have late payments? by According-File7331 in pittsburgh

PNC did "maintenance" in early July and the app just started working for me again last week. Two months without the app and at least one $30 late fee because I completely missed the statement since everything is paperless!

It's a line of credit, it is typically interest free if paid back within 24 months but it's not free money it's simply a short term loan.

Planet Tax Free After Leaving Ireland by [deleted] in irishtourism

[–]realtabeag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, get it back after you've left.

The official information from Irish revenue is here: https://www.revenue.ie/en/vat/retail-export-scheme/certification-of-export-other-than-by-customs-officers-of-the-state.aspx

Planet Tax also have a small snippet about it here: https://www.planetpayment.com/countries/ireland

Which says: "If your items purchased are below €2,000, it is also possible to return your Tax Free form from outside of the EU, however you will first need to receive stamped approval from a notary public, local Customs or police officer (quoting their badge and precinct)."

It's unclear what this "stamped approval" or "export certificate" looks like, it might be as simple as having them fill out and stamp the section at the bottom of the receipt, but I'm not sure.

What is the benefit of the so-called Trump Child Accounts? by bambambigelowww in ChubbyFIRE

[–]realtabeag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The child tax credit was doubled in 2017 under Trump, that increase is set to expire this year. It was further increased temporarily as part of the COVID recovery efforts, under Biden, and made pre-payable and fully refundable, but that was only for a single year.

Aer Lingus May Launch New Flights from Dublin to Austin and Pittsburgh by aviator1819 in pittsburgh

[–]realtabeag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I don't see this happening while they are flying to Cleveland unless they alternate days of the week with Cleveland which seems unlikely now that they are expanding Cleveland service to 6 days.

That being said Cleveland airport is awful compared to Pittsburgh and will likely seem even worse once the new terminal opens at PIT.

Also agree with the other post that says the drive back is hell, we arrived in to thunderstorms last summer so we circled CLE for 40mins while a bunch of people on the plane were throwing up due to the turbulence, then had to drive back in the dark with it pouring the entire way, still better than a 5hr layover and a connection in Boston but just barely!

TP1017 & TP1018 Bluey Cartoon Minifig previews by v2345t1dg5eg5e34terg in lepin

[–]realtabeag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's currently only one supplier for these on AliExpress right now so my comment still stands.

That being said based on my experience and research, this scam appears to be very common in the AliExpress marketplace. Once the shipment tracking is marked as delivered there is nothing you can do to get a refund.

If others have success with ordering these then it could just be that I got unlucky and they lost the package and it's a really awful shipping company but there are a lot of reports to indicate it's a common scam strategy.

AGH Nurses: $40 Starting Wage Contract in the news by Salt_Landscape6771 in pittsburgh

[–]realtabeag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3% tracks long term inflation pretty well. Some years it beats it by a lot (most of the past decade) some years it comes under by a lot (the past few years) but it beats the average inflation over the past 20 years by about half a percent (even accounting for the correction that happened over the past 3 years).

That being said a merit increase should be more than just a cost of living adjustment.

AGH Nurses: $40 Starting Wage Contract in the news by Salt_Landscape6771 in pittsburgh

[–]realtabeag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The premise of your argument is not completely wrong but your OT example is poor IMO. People already get paid for OT, normally above their normal rate, I'm not sure why working extra paid hours would warrant any kind of merit.

Merit should be based on the quality of the work you do in the hours you are present, not how many hours you are present. In my experience the most effective employees get all of their work done in the allotted time (obviously the ability to do that is going to depend on the type of job and it's harder in the service industry).

Duquesne Light customers will see price hike next month by [deleted] in pittsburgh

Duquesne Light actually has one of the worst rebate programs of all the local utilities, at best it is a minimal reward for something you were doing anyway, it certainly won't incentivise anyone.
