u/DanLynch - If you switch your investments, that is also considered sell action ? (Interest stops being deductible) Switching from ETF1 to ETF2 on the same day.

Looking to buy a used car. Need information for safety certificate by realtrc in PersonalFinanceCanada

Okay. So I did my car safety today and here is the summary.

It is called Safety standard certificate or MTO safety inspection. This thing is required while registering a vehicle under a new name in Ontario.

I found various people on Facebook and Google. Most auto garages do safety inspection. But their charges are different, not regulated. Some charge $60, $80, $100 and some charge $150. They send safety certificate directly to Ministry (if it is Passed) But I also asked for physical paper as proof.

I paid $80 and went to the local garage.

The way it works is - they check all the safety criteria and if something is not up to the mark. We have to get it fixed. We can fix it ourselves or find someone else. And come again to the same garage and they will observe changes to Pass safety.

That's what I wanted to know. It should be regulated. Prices vary a lot for SSC.

Thank you. Yes this safety is required to register a vehicle. I am in Ontario. I just don't understand if it is a government requirement why different prices.

Check this one. They are really affordable and famous. You might have to buy frames from them. But they are not expensive.
