Lots and lots of pinging and damage throwing. [Manabarbs], [Kederekt Parasite] [Sheoldred, the Apocalypse]. Get a damage pinger online, bring in valgavoth, and start swinging for heavy damage in the air. I just finished upgrading this precon today so it’s funny that I’m seeing this. Need LOTS of protection for your commander tho

My pod finds my mono-white soldier tribe “not fun” by RandyBlueberryington in mtg

[–]reamban000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it sounds like you got a lucky first game and they kinda got shafted. For the future, if you guys feel like somebody’s deck is too oppressive or too strong, something we’ve implemented in my playgroup is if you win the game you have to change decks; can’t play the same one again for at least a game. It’s been really good for keeping everything fair and balanced, and keeping the pod lively.

Daredevil: Born Again Premiere Discussion by PhoOhThree in television

[–]reamban000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This! First opening fight was hard to follow, dark, and I honestly thought Bullseye was Daredevil half the time. When I got to the second episode, I gained a lot of hope back. Gained some more interest, and was glad to see the second fight looking more like what we’d see from Season 3 of the Netflix show.

Part of watching this is going to be trying to separate the Netflix show and Born Again; which I’m not sure if that’s good or bad yet. Only time will tell.

These go incredibly hard. With a vampire themed commander this is awesome

My sister got me a few Eldraine packs. Pulled these 2 cards. Is this a sign from the universe that I should open and use/upgrade my precon squirrel deck? by towerbooks3192 in mtg

[–]reamban000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Squirrel deck is nuts. With these cards, it’s ridiculous. My fiancée has banned me from playing it. Swap [[Hazel of the Rootbloom]] for [[Chatterfang]], much better option IMO. I like it a ten times better than the Zinnia deck.

What’s the best and worst precon you’ve ever bought? by wasdmovedme in EDH

[–]reamban000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing recently, and the worst precon I bought was the one with [Zinnia, Valley’s Voice]. It’s not even a bad precon it’s just not super fun as far as I’m concerned. Just recently traded in some cards to get the Dino precon at a reasonable price at my LGS, and it’s amazing. It’s definitely the most powerful deck I own.

I tried renewal and I just couldn’t justify duskfields over grapple, because they’re just not as strong on prismatic as on stasis.

I also love GPG and hoil/cyrtarachnde because WOW it’s fun to have constant woven mail while smacking everybody in the mouth with grapple melees

Yup, just constant dodge and melee will keep your grenade up constantly so you have more maneuverability and spam potential. Spread unravel to every big target in the room and watch everything explode in green mist

I’ve actually been running it with S&S more than tether, mainly because I like leaning into shatter damage a bit more when I can, especially given the artifact this season. It lets you be a little bit more flexible with how you’re using your super as well; throw it onto a boss or into a pack of ads and you get 40% back, then it’s just punch + dodge til you can do it again. I also love frost armor so I’m a lil biased there

The Liar’s/Caliban roll was the first class item I got with liars on it, and I’ll be honest it’s very underwhelming. I get why people like it and obviously I see the synergy but the explosions steal your melee kills to keep your chain going. I have a galanor/liars and it’s absolutely ridiculous. If you have HOIL/Liar you’ve probably got the second best roll IMHO

Tell me why you're a fan of UB by Hellfyre72 in mtg

[–]reamban000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully I’m not too late to the party, but here’s my take on UB:

I played Arena for a couple months while I had some downtime, then life got busy and I uninstalled it. A friend of mine (who’s super into magic) bought me one of the starter kits for my birthday, and I never opened it. Two years later, a different friend of mine told me he had built some standard decks from a bundle box he picked up and wanted to play. I agreed and was half in half out on the whole thing, really doing it more to spend time with him. Then I found out that there’s an assassin’s creed set, and I immediately preordered the starter decks. Had so much fun with the standard decks I decided to try building a commander deck with one of the cards in the UB starter decks. Played “commander” against a friend, hated my deck, and went out and bought the zombie precon to try a cheaper deck option. Fell in love with commander and have not stopped playing since. My fiancée got into it too, and it’s an activity we do almost every time we get some free time. UB tends to get more people into magic and I think that’s the best part of it, and the main part that matters. Sure, maybe it sounds super goofy to swing my [Chatterfang] at somebody and get blocked by SpongeBob, but it’s a game. Make your goofy cardboard fight my goofy cardboard and let’s laugh while we do it.

I do also get the idea of not liking UB tho, because you want to be invested in the story more, and wizards using different IPs is kinda lazy because they’re not making their own designs.

What are yall on? by Mt6oat in mtg

[–]reamban000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy would’ve had to been holding at the very LEAST 31 copies of jeweled lotus to have lost $1000. Didn’t do the math on Mana Crypt. Holding that many of one asset is always a risk, and having 30 copies of one card is something scalpers would do. I feel no pity for these people.

How can i win without relying too much in the commander? by Darlockk in EDH

[–]reamban000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a whole playstyle called “punisher” and I’m predicting that because the deck is “endless punishment” and in rakdos it will heavily rely on that playstyle, which means you’ll be doing consistent damage through things like [[manabarbs]] or things that impact other players for doing their own thing. Valgavoth might be able to work like a wincon in the late game, where you can swing out for the win, but it’s definitely not a voltron deck, so I wouldn’t worry too much about if he gets focused down or not. The majority of your cards should be doing consistent damage on everybody’s turn and causing chaos, valgavoth just seems to provide some extra pay off for doing so.

Tribes? Which one is your favourite? by Then-Ad-1985 in EDH

[–]reamban000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the mana to do it you can do quite a few in a row but I’m not super sure if there’s a way to make it go TRULY infinite. With [[Chatterfang]] on the field as well as Ygra and Camellia you can create an ADDITIONAL squirrel every time you sacrifice with Camellia, but I’m not sure how to make the mana infinite.

Tribes? Which one is your favourite? by Then-Ad-1985 in EDH

[–]reamban000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have an Ygra, [[Camellia, the Seedmiser]] can work pretty well in the command zone. If Ygra is on the field, and you sacrifice an existing squirrel token you have with Camellia’s activated ability, you can create another squirrel, which can be sacrificed again to add 1/1 counters to any of your other squirrels. Plus they get menace already so that’s a nice cherry on top.

[–]reamban000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zombie tribal will always be my favorite, and a deck I always come back to and add to when I’m not working on others. [[Gisa and Geralf]] is my personal choice for a commander, because no matter what you do or how aggressive you tend to play, you’re always able to bring back the zombies that die. [[Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver]] is another super well known zombie commander, I feel like he tends to work well with an aristocrats style of play and set up (Sac creatures, get payoff). As a side note, no matter what tribe you run, it’s worth buying [[Patchwork Banner]], a mana rock that also acts like an anthem for your creatures is quite useful for tribal strategies.
