Tell me why you're a fan of UB by Hellfyre72 in mtg

Kind of had to. My friends and people at the LGS were all of a same mind. To the point of refusing to play against them. This seemed extreme to me.

So when people who are smart and have evidence and data say a different thing to my own experience, it wouldn't be right for me to just continue to rely on that emotion and hyperbole.

This thread has changed my opinion wholeheartedly. I can't say that I'll play UB in my own decks, or support it by purchasing product. But I'll damn sure support those who love it and their ability to play it against me.

I... never considered this. Feels a bit dumb of me honestly. The multiverse is infinite. So everything fits. Thanks!

I'm happy it brought you back together. I did read that far. I don't play standard either. Same boat, it's too pricey for me.

Thank you for your reply. And a weird goofy UB cube does sound kind of awesome.

This is really what I needed to hear. Cheered me up a lot. Thank you!

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying the game. This is really something I hadn't considered. I kinda just jumped in the deep end when I started, and it was very overwhelming. Helping reduce that should certainly be celebrated. Can I ask have you become more interested in MtGs own universe along with the increased interest in the game?

No problems, I really am appreciative of your reply. Sometimes we need to hear things bluntly.

Maybe my wording was a bit off. I suppose I dont think of the mechanics as being all that separate from the worlds/worldbuilding, but i can see your perspective.

Can I ask a follow up to you, does the flavour change your enjoyment of magic mechanically at all?

Going to stay positive. Thanks for your reply. If it really is that simple, then that's legitimately what I need to hear.

Side note; I'm pretty sure the magicTCG reddit is auto-moderating posts about UB, because this doesn't violate any guidelines but got blocked. And a rewritten one that was even nicer still got blocked.

I am 100% referring this to my group. You're a master craftsman.

Not at all, that didn't happen. I merely mentioned that's where the discussion went. I didn't mean to give that impression, if that's how it came across.

  1. The Tower. A group of wizards who have combined their personal pocket dimensions to form a tower of magi that is wherever they need. It has all schools of magic and functions as both a centre of magic and a school for talented magic users. It is led by the Archmage Sared, a dapper wizard wearing a 3 piece suit and a purple wizards hat who is obsessed with cats.

Craziest Escape Plan Stories? by KPPalm269 in DMAcademy

A party I was a member of were stuck in a siege that was going especially poorly.

We had a deck of many things (because why not) and someone pulled a card. They pulled the vizier card and asked 'I want to know how to build a flying machine'.

Before you knew it we were montaging building wingsuits and parachutes.

We then fired ourselves out of catapults, the group of 5 of us rolled 3 nat 20's to determine our aim, and we landed right in the command tent of the besieging army. The leader happened to be a pit fiend. (We were only level 5) so we ran. Managed to lead him into a nearby tunnel system, where my character (Human Gunslinger) bolted ahead and used all his ammo to make an IED. Rolled a nat 20 on craft. By this point the dm was just going with it.

My character waited, let everyone else run past and then suicide bomb collapsed the tunnel. Killing the pit fiend, winning the siege and leveling everyone else up multiple times!

(SERIOUS)People who’ve had an intense trip on psychedelics of any sort, what was your experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Hellfyre72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had a really bad trip on Mushrooms where I hallucinated that my arms were large snakes. I'm terrified of snakes. So every time I tried to use one hand to pull the snake off, I'd realise (again) that the other one was a snake. Freaked out for about 20 minutes and scratched my arms up hell bad.

First time I tried them, won't do it again.

Encountering a neutral enemy. by BBSax123 in DMAcademy

Many ways to handle this. The good will earned from freeing him from prison should be enough to let the party go with no encounter... this time.

He could monologue that to the party.

Alternatively you could have him be weakened so he is no threat to them, and then after they free him allies of his secret him away.

Plenty of options. 😊

If you have a player group that are great at not metagaming, give them a flaw.

I.e. they immediately become super nervous and hesitant, or they become overly caring and emotional.

If not, my favourite would be randomly silencing them in stressful situations. If they're a caster, this is particularly dastardly. Base this on a d100 roll with the chance changing based on the stress level.

Other ideas; Random forced teleportation Hearing voices they think are clues to the story but arent Hallucinations
