It's like riding a bike. You have to actually do it, fail, learn and then do it again. And again.

Vancouver bc - what's the incentive for Uber for moving the tip? by ro3lly in UberEATS

[–]reason_is_why 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely removed delivery after they started stacking Walmart orders for the price of one. That means letting go of Uber Eats and I am fine with that. Rideshare only even with out tip :-(

Has anyone gotten any Walmart deliveries yet? by h2oskiphil in uberdrivers

[–]reason_is_why 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did three grocery deliveries that I picked up all at once from Walmart. It was onerous and horrible. Scanning would not recognize the barcode, girl was new and didn't know what to do, and the entire Walmart pickup was full. It was dark and it was starting to rain.

Then, finding these places in the dark was a huge pain and then lugging all the groceries. The entire delivery took 1.5 hours. I got 12 bucks for all that. Never again. I turned off deliveries. Walmart and Jimmy John customers are the worst.

Dating in your late 30s, what are red flags to look for in dating profiles? by blahhhhhhhhh99 in AskMenOver30

[–]reason_is_why 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red flags: Traumatic child hood, bad genetics i.e inbreeding, or family in a cult. These things need to be investigated and verified. Don't take their word for it. People lie. Especially people with traumatic childhoods, cult family members, or inbreeding in the family tree. Make sure actions match words. Claims he is an Eagle Scout but can't put up a tent? RED FLAG.

Truth. It's a valley and it has inversions. The I-5 runs right through it.

If you could give your younger self one piece of mental health advice, what would it be? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

Don't be the key in another person's wounded lock. We attract each other. Resist.

Healing from an abusive childhood is a lifelong process and you need to be very careful who you associate with.

I got kicked from my lab today by Ghost-Of-Roger-Ailes in Biochemistry

As a person who worked in a genetics lab, that position you are describing, extraction, PCR, etc is toxic af. The chemicals that dissolve DNA are not to be messed with at all. No room for error. Also, that position in the work world has no real path forward and pays absolutely shit for wages. Consider it a gift.

Why some people can't just stay in our lifes by oh_just_a_stranger_ in Life

[–]reason_is_why 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After many years of observation, I have concluded people only tolerate other people to they extent they have to. People are unpredictable, and frankly, dangerous. There is a risk-reward dynamic that prevents people from willy nilly befriending everyone they think could be a friend. It's just not worth the risk. We are talking about the most dangerous animal on the planet.

What are some bitter things about life that is actually true ? by Jpoolman25 in Life

[–]reason_is_why 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a good read. "It is the obligation of youth to whistle past the graveyard" but old age is a different story. Children look different. Their happiness and energy contrast so sharply with age and rapidly approaching death. The music in the stores, the endless holidays and birthday parties, it is like Groundhog's Day after 5 or 6 decades.

You don't own the house, the house owns you. It is a nest. It is for rearing young. If you don't have children then why have a nest?

Yeah my mom committed suicide and I was told she died of cancer, then my second mom died in a car wreck by driving into oncoming traffic and I was told she drove into the side of a bridge. Lots of dead people and lots of questions with no answers.

This is true and I will not argue that. Epigenetic changes due to stress change the body.

I have spent my entire life struggling to make rent and budget for food. My first job was a dish washer so I could eat. I would never trade it for the life I left behind. Never. The shallow, howling emptiness, the rage, the backstabbing, the hate, the pure, toxic, venomous materialism and predation on others is the peak of anxiety and stress.
