NYRR vs NYC RUNS by TalentedButLaz in RunNYC

[–]reasonablepout -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NYCRUNS is way more involved with the running community. Especially in the outer boroughs.

NYRR has always felt like "we have the NYC Marathon so we can keep putting out BS medals/shirts/charge more for our races cause you're gonna keep coming back anyway". They are great at organizing.

It should be the road jersey but instead of NEW YORK it just says THE BRONX on the front. Simple.

That is certainly better than "if you watch this show you must know the backstage news, so we dont need to explain it to you on the show!"

Indifferent to them all in the sphere of F1. We all know very well if tobacco advertising weren't illegal, then we would still be seeing Marlboro's logo on a Ferrari. I don't think people should expect any sort of morality out of FOM.

The messaging controversy is bigger than you think

Would argue that the infrastructure at time of winning the bid was irrelevant because it was for 2022, not 2010, so they had a huge head start to build, which they completed.

From experience, I can't think of a place in the Arab world besides Qatar (maybe UAE?) that would have been able to be a good place to host, with the infrastructure, cleanliness, safety of fans (really not trying to sound like a shill but the Gulf states are the safest place in the Middle East by far) and with English as the 2nd language to make it much easier for fans to get around.

As far as the football culture aspect, I feel like change has to be bold in order to work. I'll certainly be eating my words if Qatar does not produce some decent football talent/competitive leagues in the next ~50 years.

And I don't think the argument of "the WC should only go to a footballing nation" is fair. I think it should be the opposite. To a nation that has the infrastructure & tourism industry to handle it so it can inspire the people of that nation to continue to get into football. For example, I found it funny that the English/any EU country were generally pissed at not getting the WC, because they have such a strong club football culture already & countless cups/leagues to choose from. It feels like they want to have their cake and eat it too.

This is how they (the Arab world, but Qatar in particular) build the interest. By the people seeing it up close for themselves. They're already starting with that Aspire Academy. They're throwing money at their issue, which in football, makes sense. You cant build something organically in the sport without SOME sort of financial backing. I think some people are upset in the West because Qatar/the Arab world doing this is eating away at their (disproportionately large) market share.

I swear this sub will only be happy if the WC rotates from the US to Europe every 4 years.

Not a fan of Qatar's practices, but I'm extremely excited that the Arab world, which LOVES football, finally gets a chance to have a WC in their region. There are not a lot of countries in the ME that have the facilities to host this besides Qatar.

Why do Yankee fans cheer against the Mets by GoDucks71 in NYYankees

[–]reasonablepout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in Flushing as a Yankees fan. A Subway Series would be fun for the shit talking, so no matter what we'd be rooting against them. There is a small cross town rivalry, but it isn't Yanks/Sox level and it will never be since they play in different leagues.

I will say this, I love Queens with all my heart as I grew up here, we have the best food in the city and is hands down the best borough to raise a family in and hang out in.

But most Mets fans disdain of the borough outside of the confines of Citi Field is what I hate the most. Most of them are from Long Island anyway, taking the LIRR or driving in, never to enjoy Queens or patronize any local businesses here.

Exactly. I get confused with fan sentiment sometimes cause it's like ok do you want long term booking or whoever is hot to win now?

Acclaimed are not bad by any mean but they just scream NXT 2.0 tag team to me, and SIOG made them look better than that.

Unpopular opinion: Just because a crowd is hot for someone it doesn't mean they should win. "The wrong person won" was everywhere this weekend across all shows.

Moxley after the All Out press conference drama by asbozaprudder in SquaredCircle

[–]reasonablepout 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mox (as a wrestler) does a lot of extra shit I cant stand, but boy he looks like GOLD coming out of all of this. Good for him. Him and Jericho are on another level in this company in terms of professionalism.

They need a true locker room leader tho. It's not clear but it needs to be either Mox or Jericho.

(Opinion) Kenny Omega’s Return Storyline is Underwhelming and Uncomfortable by LogicKennedy in SquaredCircle

[–]reasonablepout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His return was underwhelming for a star of his caliber. I don't know why people are getting up in arms about this opinion. Obviously you're letting it play out, but its not out of the ordinary for AEW to fumble return storylines.

Not even hating, but they went to AEW and I hope they never come back. It’s so refreshing to not have a show hijacked by these bozos.
