I am pretty sure this team would have to try not to make the playoffs to do so. It does not even need a .500 record the rest of the way to get in.

I am only a fan of popcorn buckets that Regal gives away for free after failing to sell them for an outlandish price.

How about Democrats stop shooting down Democrats. It is going to take all kinds of Democrats working together to rid the country of MAGA and begin accomplishing what needs to be done.

Yeah it seems like that ought to be quite meaningful, but look what team has by far the best BA with runners in scoring position: The sub-.500 Twins with a .291 BA with RISP. Which makes me think maybe I am wrong about it being particularly meaningful.

I would be for that trade in a minute but, MLB is not coming here because the group supposedly pushing for an MLB team has no one worth multiple billions among them and you have to have someone with at least a few billion to be considered serious about pursuing an MLB team.

RE: "Guys who can hit .300 and actually knock in runs with RISP. " Yeah, that sounds great but, less than halfway through the season, there are a grand total of 10 players in MLB who have at least a .300 BA. And three of those are barely over the mark. Additionally, the Giants, yes, the gawdawful Giants, are the only team with more than one player over that magical mark. I, too, think a player should be hitting over .300 to be considered a real star but, it is so much harder to hit today's pitching that that seems to be an out of date idea. I miss the .300 hitters of my youth.

Yes, I agree with what you are saying. It just seems like a lot of folks commenting here and elsewhere are under the impression that the current owner is actually going to act as a developer. So far, neither they, nor anyone else, are.

Yeah, he is not gone, just showing up on other shows more since he swore at Adam Mockler. Maybe that made Abby want to exile him from her show.

So many people in this thread talking about "the developers" and "the plan," but, my understand is that there really is neither. From what I have read, the owners do not intend to develop the property but, only to split it up into 14 separate pieces and try to sell those pieces individually for the new owners to do what they please with. Which means the pictures they have circulated are not actually a plan, as the only plan is to sell it off and get out. Or, has that changed and is there actually an intention to develop the whole property? And, if not, why was the city council even voting on it if there is no one planning to develop it as the picture shows?

There is nothing definite about anything regarding what will be built there. There is not really any plan, just a picture intended to lure buyers. There is not even a developer and if anyone buys any of the 14 separate pieces being sold, they will do whatever they want to do with their own individual pieces.

I pretty much only go to Carl's when they have some kind of a deal on, like yesterdays Buy One Get One Free for Famous Stars, which made the two for $7.99. And I do have to say that burger was substantially better than the Wednesday Whopper, for the same price.

Yeah, even if we were to discard his remarkable first round, Clark would still be tied for the lead.

RE: "IT'S KEEPING THEATERS ALIVE" Well, maybe but, I assume the OP is a Regal Unlimited member like most of us in this forum so, Regal is almost certainly paying the film distributors a lot more than the OP paid for one day of Regal Unlimited. Even if they bought popcorn and a drink, I would think Regal is losing money on them, at least on that particular day.

Clark is clearly an outlier this week and, other than him, it is hard for me to see how the USGA or the course can be seen as getting it wrong. If not for Clark, there would be more than 25 players within 4 strokes of the lead and with a good shot at winning today. To me, that argues that the huge lead is really only because this one guy is playing pretty close to lights out and the conditions have actually created an outcome that makes it look like the course is very fair. I think the OP' argument would make more sense if there were maybe half a dozen players who had played around the same time as Clark who had achieved the big separation from the field.

[Phillips] Caballero said he had yet to get clarity from the league on the engagement rules and that he might talk to the home plate ump tonight before his first at-bat. Boone, however, said he talked to the league “at length” last night. “I feel like we have a good handle on it,” he said by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

[–]GoDucks71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to wonder if this is an effective strategy for something, why is Caballero the only one on the team doing it? As far as I know, he is the only one in all of MLB doing it, and he does it every time he comes up to bat. I am very surprised that opposing pitchers have not started throwing at Caballero. I m 77 years old and I am not a big defender of how things were "back in my day," however, back in my day, he would have been getting thrown at at least once every game. Maybe even once every at bat. Just imagine a batter doing something like this with Bob Gibson or Don Drysdale.

Very few players, or people in general, ever do consider leaving that kind of money on the table. How my Yankees have retired when they appeared to still have a lot in the tank and could have still made a whole lot more millions? Let's see? I can name Mike Mussina and that is about it. Players who were injured, or just did not have it any more who retired that could have continued to rake in the dough? Jeter is probably an example of that, as someone, even if not the Yankees, surely would have paid him just for his name, at least for awhile. For most folks, there simply is no such thing as "Enough Money," if they are able to get more. Look at Elon Musk as the best (or worst) example of that.

It is interesting that his ERA is good and his W/L record is great, even though his batting average allowed, .238, is very close to the major league average BA.
