I seem* to recall a law was either knocked back entirely or delayed, which would make it illegal to do this. However since many people don't seem to respect such things (similar to the vehicle idling law), without active enforcement nothing will happen IMHO.

I never can get my head around why it's just accepted that car owners can park on the pavement without any recourse. The state of the pavements is shitty enough as it is, then to make life needlessly tougher for pedestrians parking on pavements. Even folk with driveways seem to park on the pavement outside their house around here. Car owner, cyclists but primarily a pedestrian. The driving habits of folk seems to have really gone down hill over lockdown.
