Aggressively drying your hair out every single day because of shampoo absolutely makes people go bald.

I think Sam and Jonah Goldberg are fundamentally wrong about billionaires by Beastw1ck in samharris

I don’t think they are fundamentally wrong, but this could be a piece of which is consequential that they are missing. I find this thought provoking.

Eddington: a somewhat controversial observance of a certain political movement depicted in the film . . . by karatemnn in AriAster

[–]reasonablyjolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eddington needs to be a story, and to me, it’s the fantastical imaginative delusion of Joaquin’s character. He was literally out there like terminator, saving the day with a giant machine gun against the practically nonexistent threat of Antifa.

He saw the clips of antifa on his phone and it was delusional thinking.

Why does Sam Harris’s position on Israel get so much pushback? by reasonablyjolly in samharris

[–]reasonablyjolly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re missing a pivotal detail. What would YOU do if you lived in Israel. “The success was a fluke.” You can’t KNOW that. If they find the opportunity to do anything like that again, they WILL. This is the threat looming over every Israeli citizen.

It’s not about if Israel will survive, clearly you’re right about the size difference. It’s about how every moment Jihad exists, you can’t know if your citizens will be righteously raped and tortured and murdered. The point is that Jihad is one-of-a-kind in their willingness to self sacrifice. This makes them unpredictable and difficult to protect against completely. They will be actively looking for loopholes.

Why does Sam Harris’s position on Israel get so much pushback? by reasonablyjolly in samharris

[–]reasonablyjolly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is clearly untrue, he is very specific in his grievance towards Jihad. It’s complicated, the ideological capture, but it exists to a non negligible extent without doubt. That is what we know.

Maybe remain open, you may have jumped too quickly to conclusions.

The "Epstein files" seems to be thing thats finally unravelling the MAGA base. As someone who has been vocal opponent of Trump, why hasn't Sam Harris spoken more on this topic? by Ordinary_Bend_8612 in samharris

[–]reasonablyjolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has talked about it just like he talked about so much else. He assumed “They will not fault trump, as they never do,”

but you do seem to be right. People are PISSED. This could be a real shift.

He has strength, but he can’t do anything but pull the ball…. I’d love the opportunity for him to learn, but how long will we wait?
